Unfortunately I can't get that to work

I've used Whip's Subgrid script and have never had an issue with it. His stuff is usually on-point 99.9% of the time.

It IS possible to make a VTOL ship that doesn't use scripts by simply using two hinges chained together and two or three merge blocks... avoiding scripting and keeping the build compatible with survival servers that aren't in "experimental" mode.

I've got something coming out in a couple of days that uses this scheme with hydrogen thrusters. I just finished playtesting it on a public server. But here's a tutorial that will give you the gist of how to set things up.

my ship is now just standing around, can't get a script to run for vtol.

everything else goes through script.

does anyone have a film on how to do it or can someone make a copy?

Takes some time to learn it's quirks but it's super awesome. Can't resist using it on almost every ship with huge ring rotors.

Vermilion's old Vector Thrust 2 has now been updated by someone else who has published it as the new Vector OS script. WOrks pretty well.

Just realize that vector thrust subgrids are a LOT of trade-offs and weak points. They're kinda cool to play with just for fun, but not very strong for survival transport/combat play.

Whiplash's is probably the most reliable way to do it with a script. Otherwise, without script, do what Ronin suggested. Set your rotor limits and reverse them back and forth for two positions. Don't forget to lock rotors and share tensors when thrusting and not rotating them.
