Connector on end of Piston - Ship starts spinning out of control (Please Help!)
(This is all in space with no planets)

I have 2 big ships, one thats supermassive and one thats about 1/10th the size(they are both big ships, not small ships) They both have extending pistons that stick out the sides which have connectors on the ends, so the ships can connect with each other.

However after I lock them using the hotbar (lock/unlock) the smaller big ship starts spinning out of control. It bends the piston chain all over the place and collides with the bigger ship and does not stop spinning out of control until the piston chain literally snaps in half. I can also stop the spinning by manually unlocking it. During this spinning i can see the smaller big ship's engines trying to readjust it to stay still but its being thrashed around so violently that it doesnt change anything.

I want to point out that the bigger ship does not spin at all, but it does have to readjust when the smaller ship pulls it a bit when its spinning out of control.

The connectors ARE locked during this spinning out of control thing, they are green and hotbar says they are locked.

I will provide a video clip later in the afternoon if it is needed, because this is a very strange bug.

Lol yeah, its irritating the first time but you can trust me when I say it gets funnier the more it happens.

What you do is this: Turn off your dampeners and undock. Be aware that on a planet you'll splat on the ground unceremoniously so get ready to thrust up

Also be aware that the same applies to docking.

I just have to turn off my dampeners? I will try this. I am in space btw

Different forces struggling against one another and random physics events are collectively known as Clang or Lord Clang

Connecting ships to stuff on the end of rotors or pistons can cause this. It seems pretty random why it happens. I tried putting connectors on my mortal engines build and yeah bugged out when i locked a small ship to it, but other times iv had no problems :(

Don't be sad, it's hilarious to watch a small ship roleplaying that its a jack in the box.

Me: It's happened again
Friend: What's happened aga- Oh god look what you did to the platform!
Me: Ship didn't fare much bette-
Friend: OH GOD WHERE IS ITS NOSE?
Me: Look, it happens
Friend: It wouldn't if you'd just use landing gear!
Me: Yeah but where's the fun in that?

Mortal engines build? Please tell me you made an actual moving city because that would be pretty impressive

Well not a whole city like London, i tried to do that scuttlebutt thing they get picked up in, the one that goes to the slave market :)

Over a year later and the same thing is still happening. Just experienced this myself for the first time, also with a smaller ship connecting to a larger one. Fun.
