Or you could turn off the trash cleanup, and just do a manual cleanup periodically using admin tools...
It may just be I have never triggered the trash removal.
the default setting is any unpowered grid more than 500m away gets removed.
It is way too strong in my oppinion. II usually bump it up to 5km at least that way you can actually do survival without worrying your battery will go flat and result in your pod being removed while you are off getting more ice to power it up again!
uhhh that sounds like a bug... If your only power source is a battery and you set it to recharge it will not keep your ship powered 0.0
though... maybe that is how they keep exploration ships from being deleted by trash removal.
Many PVP or online servers will delete grids that don't have beacons after a given amount of time. That is more a custom setup for the trash removal.
Have you actually tested this? Fairly sure an unpowered ship gets cleared regardless of the reason for it being powered.... though technicly the battery itself would still be powered....
I've lost ships because I flew stright up to get an idea of when dawn was going to reach me X.x
Unpowered
Less than 50 blocks
Free floating (as in, not a station built into the ground)
And finally distance from the player (default 500m)
You can check all these settings, and other trash removal settings, and configure them by hitting alt+F10 and clicking trash removal from the drop down menu.
I personally have trash removal turned off in my SP games and only occasionally clean up manually with the F10 menu.
Well. That and not losing an unfinished ship that I forgot to power on.
This is really handy to know, thanks. My question would be, are these "OR" or "AND" conditions?
Edit: Thinking about it, they should be "AND" or else the thing sat right in front of you could disappear as you build it.
