GPU Problems & CPU Problems

I've been having this issue for several years now, i just never got around asking about it on steam.

My gpu does not seem to like space engineers, because whenever i run with a lot of mods it gives an error "Your graphics driver has overheated or crashed" now the weird thing is, my gpu was at a stable 60-65c the entire time, and my driver is not dead because i am able to immediately launch another game and not have problems
Recently i replaced the core parts of my system, i upgraded from a Intel skylake i-3 to a ryzen 5 3600, and a (not sure of the mb) to an asrock b450m steel legend.
Before that upgrade my game was running better (somehow), less crashes and better performance, now there are frequent crashes and the cpu is at 90% load when im running the game and in a modded save

Another thing i was hoping someone could help me on, my gpu sits around 30-35% load while the cpu is at 90-100% load
I've looked in to bottlenecking problems but i could not find a clear explanation to bottlenecking if thats even my problem

In short, Frequent Game Crashes, GPU Under preforming (i think), CPU takes a majority of the load.

2047MB NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 (MSI)
ASRock B450 Steel Legend (AM4)
32GB Ram
Windows 10 Home (64 bit)

A lot of mods? Try list them all here. It could be drivers. Have you disabled as many Microsoft craps and other software running in background to lessen load on hardware? I'm running older system than yours but with hybrid water cooling for cpu and gpu, never looked back.

I dont believe mods are the problem, it only has a problem when i have quite a few mods (20+ mods) im pretty sure its just the added content from the mods. Instead of the gpu being under load, the cpu is, which is the annoying part because im sure i can run it just fine if my gpu would take off load from the cpu

I normally use a wide variety of mods, depends on what i feel like
the mods i normally would have are Build & Repair system, defence shields, a lot of ai mods, and normally weapon mods
weapon mods being MWI, mexpex, and a couple others i dont remember the names of
ai mods being the the modular encounters system, reddit custom encounters, planet military encounters, and quite a few others

This sounds to me like it actually IS a mod issue...
I run about 20 mods in my SP games and about 12 in my MP games on a Ryzen 7 system with Windows 10 Home 64bit and I almost never see any lag, only when experiencing the occasional internet connection issues or Steam pushing a system update.

What do you mean by "very big save"? High PCU count? Many mods or both?

both, i load saves with mods and my cpu decides to take the brunt of the load
i load a large save, and the cpu does the same thing
by large save i mean a save that is 200mb in size

i don't use any mods but i have been having a similar unexpected fake GPU crash whenever i try to join a server. I can play my own worlds, but servers i have to shut my computer down and simply wait awhile for it to "decide" to work again

additionally i did some testing. each time that i attempted to join my fav server, it will begin to load, then crash. I decided to open my task manager and i have discovered that shortly before each crash, the CPU will skyrocket abruptly, then level off at ten percent and begin to get me to send the logs back to keen with the optional message.

that could be my problem, but im not sure why cpu would be skyrocketing, as far as im aware space engineers mostly relies on a gpu, although i could be wrong

hmm, thats odd, have you tried lowering your graphics settings down to low? once your in the server it should be fine to set them back to your normal settings
if your cpu has integrated graphics it might be trying to render everything instead of letting the gpu render it, which is odd but i dont know how it works so im just guessing here

I don't use mods and have never had the problem since playing this game since it was released... maybe that means the problem might be related to the use of "a lot of mods"... and one or more is causing the game to crash?

Windows 10 has telemetry settings on by default which load cpu to max, be sure to disable every of them under privacy in settings. There are guides on how to tune down Microsoft hogging your cpu, what to disable, etc. Best to install windows 10 offline, not to be set for online, if just use for gaming. Windows 11 is even worse, more reasons for moving to Linux.

I've had this bug.
For this I've found you don't want to touch anything, click anywhere, even the button that shows up on screen, until you are loaded in far enough you can see where your character is.
Once I avoided doing that the issue went away completely.
Once it's happened I've found I have to go into a single player session and save and quit (must save not just quit) it'll usually reset it to allow me to connect to a sever if I follow the no touch anything until fully loaded route.

Ya I just found out my radeon rx 5700xt was pushing 105c so I reduced my settings to 1920x 1080 and set the game to medium quality and now it is running below 80c. At the higher settings the game was crashing a lot and not it isn't. I suspect my heat sinks and fans need a cleaning.
