Triton has ore deposits. You just have to get below the layer of snow. Use an ore detector and be prepared for digging.

But no ore spots? like on earth how sand is white or grass is black?

I just checked again. Nothing is visible at the surface or hovering any distance above the surface that would show ore formations. You've got to just skim along close to the ground to find anything.

Hi, we don't see the ore spots on Triton, it is a "Medium" area to survive where we must use a ore detector.

Keep in mind we have different areas, some are very easy where we can see the ore spot with the naked eye and don't need a ore detector.
+
Some medium and some harder areas to survive so it gives us different gameplay where we can have easy to hard starts depending on where we play.

Keen neglected to add the image files for Triton that point to where the ore is. So you will not see them. I can't remember the names of the files in particular, but I do know the missing files are the same as those for the earthlike planet.

Like Dan said, it was meant not to have spots, to give more of a challenge. It isn't a matter of "oops we forgot to add the files." :)

Well the point is, they didn't add it. Whether it was intent is another matter. The whole searching mechanic is a farce anyway with de current detectors. There is no challenge in it at all. If it provided a direction and distance-dependant intensity only then it's a proper quest.

Just add a simple ore detector range mod to boost the ore detector's range.

It's no so hard on Triton cause all ores can be found in its flat terrain that is like a huge road going around the planet.

I will add :
I did not played survival much on Triton, more creative so far and I don't know if that planet got a Rich ore spot like the others have = ??

Rich ore spot = Where all ores can be found very close to each other.

That is something a engineer will have to do, so explore Triton to find its Rich ore spot.

Edit
I could go load my creative world and find that spot faster ;)
(probably where gold is)

Ice been playing a Triton survival since i made this post and I've found that it is absolutely no challenge to find ores. All I do it take out my drill and fly very fast and very low. if I see an ore pop up i head back and make a GPS marker for it. Its very efficient and i was able to find a patch within 5km for every ore that will spawn on that planet.

Me too I don't have any problem finding the ores I need, join the club!

To be honest, survival is way too slow for me (creative player) so I have found the Rich ore spots of the game and I always go there first when I play survival.

Newt, self plug, come join us on Alpha Shipyards

Community plug - go check out the multiplayer section. We had a directional error that landed a ship on Triton for a few months till they could get back to the ELP. With the right settings, goals and people in the sandbox with you, Triton can easily be in the Top 3 of all planets in the solar system. ELP has more environments, but its the ELP. Triton is a different planet. If you play with immersion.
