Jump drives turn large amounts of power into instant motion. Only fully charged drives can be used for the purpose of jumping. Any fully charged drives will contribute to the jump distance, as needed.
Jump distance depends on power and mass. The more mass you're dragging around, the more power you'll need to make the jump. It's possible to have a mega-massive ship that can't jump with a single drive, as the mass drops the possible distance available down under that 5km minimum.
There's also a slider for distance, when you're set for a 'Blind Jump'. Blind Jumps have no set destination locked, but will attempt to move the craft straight ahead until the drive is out of power, there's an obstruction, or it hits the limit on the slider.
Jump drives also don't allow jumping THROUGH solid matter (voxels, including planets, asteroids, and pieces of asteroids). Jump drives also have issues trying to go through Safe Zone bubbles. Think of it as a cross between warp drive and teleporting: If you can make the journey in a straight line, you can *poof* there.

You may share the world settings and the ship Blueprint on the Workshop with STR so all can try to reproduce the bug and confirm it is one that can be reproduce following your STR.
