Jumping
This is a little pet peeve of mine, but i find the jumping (yes, the character movement, NOT the jump drive) in this game extremely irritating and clunky. Basically, you cannot move in the air after jumping straight up. If you run up a little and then jump, you still move forward after jumping. That is fine. But you CANNOT move at all after jumping straight up. This is extremely annoying when you stand on top of a small ship and literally can't move up a block because there is no space to run around from, and also for some reason small blocks don't work like stairs in game. I understand that this issue can be mitigated with a jetpack, but not in scenarios or worlds where that is (intentionally) disabled. I have to resort to trying to run up a little and risk falling off the ship with too much momentum.

Is there a mod that fixes this behavior or am I going crazy?

being able to move midair is a convenience that several games have. physically it is impossible to maneuver midair without applying thrust (jetpack), so it seems reasonable for a space-related game not to include it. look at it as part of the challenge.

i know it is not helpful to your question, but i somewhat doubt enough (or the right) players see this as an issue, so a mod to "fix" this seems unlikely to exist.

A parkour mod for space engineers would not only be cool but also hilarious to watch. jump+direction could provide momentum in a direction (without ability to move mid air), and a key bind could let you climb up or hand on ledges. Enter in the large grid hydrogen engine and having to shimmy over that thing before it lights....

Being able to change directions in mid-air is something only seen in cartoons.

That's absolutely not true. Many games allow you to jump straight up and then move in a direction. Satisfactory, Deep Rock Galactic, Payday 2 just to name a few. Granted, you won't get very far before touching the ground again, but enough to cover a 20cm distance. Unless you are terribly out of shape IRL, you can also jump straight up and move your body weight to land a few inches from where you started. And don't tell me Space Engineers is different because it aims for "realism" -- a game where your base walking speed is 10m/s (36 km/h), in a space suit!

Don't forget carrying a thousand kilos in your cleavage! The only person I know of who can pull that off is Dolly Parton.
