Pirates on Star System?

I know a lot has been said on the topic, but the most recent posting I can find are from last year. I heard there were some issues surrounding pirates getting stuck in gravity wells, and there wasn't base spawning on planets? Can someone please clarify?

- Do pirates/drones spawn on Earth with the Star System start?
- Do pirates/drones spawn in space?

I know mode that is called "Planetary Random Pirates"

i once almost had a pirate ship crashing on my base because it flew into the planetary gravity

i havnt had one that flew into the gravity lately, sometimes the drones will get up to 100 and then plunge into the planet far enough that its too late to turn around. but if im on a planet they usually hover far out of reach of the grav well and dont spawn drones.

I use the star system scenario and they do spawn. But you have to be a bit far away from the planet. If you're too close to the planet, you won't see them. Raiding stations will be found if you're far away and npc's will start to spawn like the military escorts and such. But no drones on the planet. they need to put drones on that scenario without any mods.
