Small ship welder not working

ive made a very simple rover with a welder to help me quicky build my base floors. The welder is attached to the front of my rover which is just 3 medium cargo containers on wheels.
The containers are connected by the 3x3 large connector side and not the 1x1 small. The inventories all work and the welder can hold items in it. However when i turn the welder on it just clicks and does nothing. Whats wrong here?

Hi, it may be a lot of different things so the best would be to share your save here so me and Veteran players can load to find the solution for you.

If you play with Mods = You have to create a new No Mods world to test in creative mode to know if it could be a Mod problem.

Another thing we all do is to verify if one already reported as a Bug.

Always verify the community reports on the Portal because more than A Lot are participating by reporting all Bugs they find so the bug may already be in with good information from the SE Devs.

Details :

I have noticed you already added the "Block tool" in cockpit toolbar so I just had to select it and hold the left mouse button to weld :

I recommend to also add the welder block into the cockpit toolbar with ON/OFF action so no need to hold the left mouse to weld.

I will add, it's not the best concept cause it can only build the blocks in front of the car and no more than 2 blocks high from the soil, would be better on a ship so to build everywhere to complete walls and roof + ...

Or build a large block car/rover with small block welding arm using pistons and rotors, that can be a cool challenge to find a stable concept.

But better work at finding the good concepts on Welder and Grinder ships :

It's faster with the save cause it avoids a lot of troubleshooting questions.
