I am not able to charge my ship
I have a small ship after starting a custom game and dropping on the earth like planet. I have a small base with a wind generator. It's current output is 19 kw with a max of 397 kw. My ship is connected via the connector to a small cargo container attached to the base. I have trade enabled, and the ship is locked but my battery is not recharging. What am I missing?

battery is set to drain, recharge, turned off, not fully constructed, or damaged.

Typo "Battery not set to recharge" not "recharge"

Trade mode is the problem here. Connectors in Trade mode actively BLOCK all power, gases, and materials except for what is paid for through a Store, Vending Machine or Contracts block. Turn off Trade mode on all your connectors and reconnect. You should then be able to charge normally.

So I have changed the battery to recharge, when I do the ship straight falls off the connector and flips over. I have also had it on without it in trade mode and that didn't change anything. I originally thought it was because I wasn't in trade mode that it didn't work, so I built a new ship and tried it again and it still didn't work in trade mode. :(

Thew ship is falling down? never had issue. The sip should be supplye by the docked base.
That tells me that your base may not have enough power to keep itself working while your ship is charging
When a docked ship is set to charge your base will provide all power to get the batterys charged

I am in the process of building a new ship and I'll try it again. I'll screen shot what is happening.

1. As was said above, do not use trade mode on all your connectors.
2. A battery in 'recharge' mode do not output electricity at all. If it's the only battery on your ship, then it can fall or be inoperable. Your option is to switch your battery to 'auto' mode and build more wind generators.

2. cant confirm. had a drill ship docked while all batterys charging next to a small transport vessel with all charging . no fall of

You can see those trwo ships on the left side. Both docked with batterys in charge mode.
so i guess a charging batery isnt countet as "off"

It is possible, imho, but if there are no batteries on a base. The Op said his/her base has only wind turbine with 19kW output. Putting ship battery into 'recharge' mode may lead to electricity shortage on all grids and connectors will turn off and the ship will fall down.

correct.

Charging a battery will NOT cause shutdowns like that. In the power-distribution process, charging of batteries is the absolute LAST item to consider, far past the conveyor system power needs and connectors.

As the OP said, 19KW is the CURRENT output, not the MAXIMUM output. That windmill will supply up to 397KW in the current conditions. It may not charge a battery fast, especially after the needs of a base are taken care of, but it would happen... eventually.
He's still got Trade enabled on at least one connector, and when he puts that battery on Recharge, the ship has no power anymore, so it falls down. Trade mode will BLOCK power. That's what it does. Nothing gets through without being paid for. (And there's currently no way to pay for power)

Again, with all connectors, undock, turn OFF Trade, redock. (Forgot earlier that Trade only can be toggled with nothing connected) You have to make sure that BOTH connectors have Trade turned OFF.

Yup.. connector on the base was set to Trade... I turned it off and it worked! Thanks!
