Projections not welding. *Solution found*
In a survival server. Im finding i cannot weld a small grid projection either manually or with a ship welder. is anyone else have this issue?

Only encountered this after update.

EDIT:
Found the solution.

Reason was Keen changed some of the system settings.
Nothing to do with mods.
Block limits
or "is the projector plugged in" tech support.

It was: there is a new option
it's "allow build from projections"
Added by keen from the new update.
Your welcome to whoever reads this in need of help.

Hi, the best things to do are :

1 - Ask the admin for a server restart.

2 - Test in a new created No Mods world to see if the same.
(to find more clues on what is going on)

Oh! Share a Steam screenshot so all can see the problem.

+ Make sure the projection (Blueprint) is connected to the Projector, because we can build the Blueprint only if it is connected to the projector.

Make sure the projector is actually touching a component on the projection. But, no, I haven't tried using a projector after the update.

Maybe the server have "Block limit" enabled and that is why you can't build more?

Have you contacted the server admin?

I used my small-ship printer to fix my miner yesterday after an auto-dock malfunction smashed it.

Server does have a block limit however I have not reached it.
I did contact the server admin. Hes waiting for a hot fix as a solution is not readily apparent.

thank you this was informative. Still doing testing to see if it something server side or more centralized on my end.

Edit: sadly the only things i can find out by researching this issue are things from 2015. Nothing recent.

Try to reproduce in Local Solo Offline mode, creative mode to test faster, Blueprint your server creations and paste in a new created Local world for testing.

And you will be able to share that Local save if you can't find the solution, so I can find it ;)

>> How to publish a world save :

1 - Select your save.

2 - Click the "Publish" button on the left.

3 - Choose a proper Tag or skip all and click the OK button.

4 - Your world will be uploaded to Steam Workshop.

5 - Share the Workshop item link here.

There is a new Safe Zone setting to allow welding from projection. Please check that checkbox if you're trying to weld in a safe zone. Also, there is an implicit "global" safe zone spanning the entire world defining the defaults, which the server admin can control, get that one verified as well.

Done testing in Single player with every mod loaded and welding projected grids works flawlessly. Is there anything else that could cause this malfunction? a setting perhaps?
Like what was suggested above like some sort of global safe zone?

Trying to trouble shoot this as best i can but the admin is convinced its some sort of keen bug. too many years of getting screwed over i guess.
A developer of this app has indicated that this post answers the original topic.
