Getting rid of floaters?
I have a bunch of rock randomly floating in the air like this:

I've tried drilling it and trash removal but they're still there. Drilling does nothing to them although the engineer collides with them. Did I use the wrong settings in trash removal or are they just there and we have to deal with this kind of thing?

They are still classed as voxel so not trash, you either need to find the right spot on them to drill (use right click to get better overall clear size) or if playing on creative use the voxel hands to remove them. (Found in the normal build menu G)

Ship drills are the best way to clean those critters. Lately I've found the hand drill not being able to "see" them.

Alternatively and if you're able to enable the admin menu, you could try to place some voxels yourself and dig that away in the hope you get everything with the drill.

I'll try voxel hands I haven't tried that. I did try everything else suggested so far including a mining ship. This whole area is under ground. It was dug out by a wall of drills. Weird how it missed little bits like that.

How does a concrete mod or any mod get rid of them?

the drills on your drill wall could be too far apart leaving those behind.
i had the same thing happen to me i ended up using small bits 2 blocks apart horizontal
and 3 vertical and now i dont get those clumps leftover anymore. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1902424588

You know, when I first read the title of this thread I thought, "You've got to eat less fiber. Then those floaters will sink deep."

The drill that I did it with was a full wall of 60 drills, no empty spaces. all facing forward. I don't get what you mean about the "small bits". I don't get these random pieces left behind making drill walls like that often, only rarely. Are you saying you've found that using less drills seems to prevent this?

i mean the small block drills when i said "small bits " and yes this small block setup i posted never leaves behind those pieces of stone that snag your equippment .
where the large block drill bits (for me) left stone pieces behind even if it was a straight wall of them.

Thanks, Skivel! I haven't tried small block drills on a ship. I rarely to never use small blocks for anything. I have resources to spare in that save. I'll try a small grid mining drone or ship before changing to or activating creative mode before trying voxel hands. Some of the places these missed pieces of rock are would be difficult to get a ship in to without smashing in to and destroying something I'd rather not have to repair. Haha!

There it is. Yea it costs a little bit, but the concrete mod tool is in my opinion something that should be added in base game. Gravel is still a nuisance.

thats for using gravel. That wont help get rid of voxels though. I use gravel sifter x10 myself.

"Mods"? No, thank you! Not for me. The vanilla game has plenty of errors we have to deal with. There's no reason to add un-official content that adds more errors IMO.
