How Research works

Hi there,

Is there any documentation anywhere describing Research? I can't seem to find any. I can see I need to research a block before I can build it, but I have no idea how to do that. Everything above that block in the progression tree is available. How can I identify what is needed?

If you press G, you can view the build tree there. There is no actual "research" to be done. It is a "if you build this item then it will unlock that item" style system.

I can press G, search for the block, select Progression, and see the tree. When I select the item I want, it says "Unknown technology. You need to research it first."

I am trying to build a Decoy. It isn't available ...

to buils the decoy you have to build a turret first - doing so will unlock the decoy thats the way "research" works in SE. otherwise you can turn it off

Thanks ... that's what I thought ... but I did build the turret, and the decoy didn't unlock. So there must be something else needed ...

To unlock a tier, you have to FINISH (weld to 100%, not just 'functional') the welding on one of the blocks of the previous level. You don't have to weld it up from nothing. You can take a fully built block, grind it down until it 'breaks' one level (the model will change a bit to show that it's partially built), then reweld it back up to 100%.

Grinding down and rebuilding the turret seemed to do the trick. How odd. Thank you.
