How to hack an entire ship?
Title. Without mods, is there a quick way to gain ownership of an entire ship without grinding down every single thing you don't own?
In Survival btw

Hi, yes from the admin menu Alt+F10 -> enable some of the "God" modes in there. like, "Creative", "Can use all Terminals", + ... and access the ship terminal, select all blocks in the list (highlighted) and set ownership to "ME" on the right side.

Don't forghet to turn Off the "God" mode when done ;)

+

Fastest way would be :

Enable Creative -> aim at the ship, hit Ctrl+X and Ctrl+V = Ship is yours.

Hi, I was hoping for help doing it in Survival.

I know but there is nothing faster than the "Admin menu + enable creative", and why I shared "God" first.

I am helping the SE community since a very long time and I did not noticed any survival workaround for that, we must grind all blocks containing computers to take over.

Maybe a Veteran player knows and will post in a survival solution.

All good, I appreciate it regardless

I will add:

I know a lot were asking to have more secirity on ownership where players were able to hack ships from other Factions very fast, so that is a reason why it is harder to take over now ;)

= Becuase MP complaints.

In survival, without using the Admin Menu, grind every component that has a computer to below the "hack" line. You own it.

Yeah its a bit tedious to hack a ship, while I know you said no mods there are two that at least still makes you work somewhat for it called 'Easy NPC takeover' you still got to grind down stuff but now only a few different types of block.

Cockpit and their seat versions, remote blocks and cryo pods. I find this better than say the hacking one.

Easier grid takeover is similar to the above too but the takeover is gradual.

I am going to say it.... Why do you want to take over someone else's ship?
Surely pvp is the most fun you can have. If on the other hand someone is giving you their ship then they can transfer ownership to you. But if you are trying to offline raid someone then really what is the point? (That is a genuine question)

I just assumed the question was with regard to NPC ships (e.g., SPRT Mining Transport).
Take over the cockpit, then you can steer the ship. However, there are still fine blocks, if you then fly to your own base with guns you will be shot at from your own base.

Without mods you have to take over all function blocks, no other option.

edit: I just read SPRT, do the CIVIL as a war opponent, he'll send you drones, they're simple, so SPRT turns green and you can use the bases and ships.

Nah yeah it's an NPC ship in an MP Server.

If you are trying to take over an NPC ship in a multiplayer server then they are all rather basic. If it is a official server the only NPC's you get are the escort or repair missions. If you attack the main ship it de-spawns so that leaves you the drones. These are harder to hack as you need to disable the remote control block which is usually hidden near the centre of the ship. If it is an unofficial server with NPC cargo ships then they are easier. First hack or build a control seat or cockpit and turn on the "inertial Dampeners" this will slow the ship down. Then take out the remote control, this will disable the ship. Lastly as said before you need to hack by hand any block which has computers, this will give you control of them. The problem is that as you did not build the blocks, only hacked them, your turrets will still see them as the enemy and fire upon them. If you really want an NPC style ship the best bet is to go into creative, buy one from a station, customise it then make a blueprint. you can then print is when back on the server.

Not true, mostly. You also have to disable the remote control block. Most NPCs have a remote control block that prevent you from controlling the ship even if you do hack the cockpit/flight seat.

That's right, whenever you take over a cockpit without a helmsman, you also have to take over remote control so that the ship can be steered. Here it is better to completely replace the remote control.
