Simply cannot join my friend.

I keep getting the "waiting for server to respond" for like a solid minute, and then the message "Server is not responding" I've tried everything, I have looked it up, no solutions work or are just outdated. We have no mods, we have experimental mode on, and everything else is perfectly fine, yet I just simply cannot join him. It also seems like no one else has this problem, but I do. Could I get some support on what to try?

Validate game files.
Restart game and steam
Check your firewall?
Not much help but maybe some thing havent tried or who knows might help :-) Dan should post link to a possible fix.

Try to desable your firewall and try again, maybe is your firewall

Hi, maybe your PC and friends PC are having a hard time to run the game and stream all data to a second PC connecting.

Testing to do = Find more clues on what is going on :

I recommend to try one of the Official server to see if you and your friend can join in.

Try all different worlds on default so Experimental OFF, create new world, start by testing the premade asteroid world > Red crashed ship < on Safe mode (better MP Perfo).

Test the Star System world, so create a new world without "Experimental"

I have tested all worlds and I now know that my PC prefer the asteroid worlds when I am the host of friends mode world.

Alright, I've tried all that you said, even the official server doesn't work for neither my friend nor me. Does anyone else have this problem or is it just the two of us?

Ok, it may be a Network problem then, because you are not able to join working public server like the official ones.

Do you play on Wifi?
If yes = Try direct connect to home router.

Some apps can "block/prevent" the game to join a server, maybe have a look at the game won't start issues :

Hmm strange that both have same issue. I expect in different locations. So not same house hold wifi? Not sure why both of you would have same issue. Since PC and wifi would be different i dont see connection here.

We are both using wifi, and we like like 2 miles apart. We both have good internet, he has 5.2 MB/s down and I have 3.6 MB/s down. We both have high tier gaming computers, but I will try the direct connect. Also, neither of us have this GameFirst VI thing.

Should be good enough to connect. Wish i had a answer for you. But other then checking game files and your firewall i cant think of anything.

If you run a VPN and they are in a different country, switch off the VPN. I had a similar problem to you and so far this is the only solution....

They about 2 miles apart h said. So no VPN in use i expect :-) I think only way fix this is if a Dev helps out.

I just gave up. I doubt a dedicated server would help seeing that we cant even connect to the official servers. Once my other friend comes back from vacation who has the game, we will see if he can join.

There is something wrong for sure, in your PC or your Network because more than a lot are playing in the Public servers every days.

I don't know why you can't but I think something is blocking you and I really don't know what = ??

Alright, I was able to join my other friend who lives much further, and has a completely different setup in terms of hardware and internet. I honestly have no clue what the deal is, I am just assuming that both of our computers are cursed.

Find out what all the differences are. wifi/hardline, ISP node, Hardware, router, security software, and what not. and see if some thing there is whats effecting it with other friend. And what is the same.

All i can say is to try and narrow down what doesnt effect it. to find what is the main problem. Might be more then one which is why its hard to pinpoint.
