I want to see proper train track blocks.

With all these block additions via DLC, what I would really like to see is some blocks that can be used for proper train tracks.

Doesn't have to be full train tracks, but at least some blocks that would make it possible to build properly sloped or curved monorail-style guide rails.

Right now people make do with the normal blocks, but you can never really get a nice turn or elevation setup without having these weird gaps in between blocks.

Beam block? Internet to the rescue.

I am aware posting here is blowing in the wind regarding Keen. But I am kind of curious to see if more people are interested. And since the Steam forums are much more active I thought to just make a post and see what people think.

True, but it is kind of cool to have some sort of rail transport network from base to base. Especially on planets.

It is not ALL about space after all, it's a building sandbox with space in mind.

I kind of get the trains for the sake of trains theme, but its better suited for being a passenger in a ship flying by remote control.

'rail transport network' for one person in single player seems like a terrible waste. If its transporting anything besides the player, its more of a waste because instead of rails, use conveyors.

I know lol, it's making a rail network for the sake of building something different.

It's just a cool thing to do, but the lack of a decently curved or inclined block makes it hard to build out proper rails besides just going straight.

There is a set of curved blocks in the workshop somewhere, that might help. I could defo get behind something with smooth curves, and H shaped like the new "beam" blocks.

A big problem using single blocks for track is if you grip the track to tightly with the wheels, the train will ride up and off the rail, just because its gripping it so well.

Where with a H block like the "beam" we could have the wheels actually be hooked over something so they cant ride off the rail. even have something to push up on without wrapping under the rail... which causes issues in how you place the supports.

In short i think a good H block with smooth curves would be awesome in vanilla, personally a reskined beam with a solid centre would seem like a great option

YES. Yes I would be very interested in that. Especially in my opinion for transportation within large ships, (and/or of course more traditional train-style on planets).

Beam block can be used as Monorails or Train tracks.

there is a hidden rail block within the files of SE but you would have to do some digging in such files or a workshop item that uses it to get it.
