Hi, I searched and did not found tutos for hinge so far but I recommend to go in a creative world to do some basic testing, like finding how strong it is, what it can support, etch ..

It is new for all but I did some testing and found working concepts.

Something I found :
-> adding a block between hinges becomes stronger, like the RED hinges you see in that screenshot :

+ I always find the working solution by testing different concepts :selike:
-> If not working = Redo different till solution found.

Share the concepts you are working on here, screenshots of what you are making or the world on the Workshop so all can help.

Another thing I found playing/testing the hinge :

Using only 2 hinges for car trailer is the best to avoid flipping over problem
-> no more than 2 axis = Good concept :

hinges are pretty simple. they travel between 90 and -90.

the notches on the hinge face toward the - direction. hinges cannot go full circle, so they will eventually stop at some point. You can change the limits to make it stop at specific points.

You can change the speed of the hinge if you want it to go faster or slower. you can even make it move at decimal speeds.

You can change the torque to add or remove force applied when it tries to move. increase the torque for heavier loads or if your trying to push another grid with it.

Breaking torque is the force applied to stop it from moving when the hinge is turned off. like car brakes - more torque means more stopping power. if there is no torque, it will have no brakes when turned off and just flail around helplessly (like a normal door hinge)

Only use share inertia tensors when you want it to be extra careful. it will be extra secure and slower, but it will be more stable. NEVER activate inertia tensors while it is actively moving or in a weird position. Just like rotors, it will explode violently when in a weird spot.

Locking the hinge will just stop it where it is. Sometimes its glitchy and does not work, but its supposed to just lock in place.

Hinges are very weird when used with pistons. Try to avoid having piston and hinge subgrids moving at the same time as the hinges will not move smoothly when pushed around by pistons. it will still work, just sometimes not smoothly or consistently.
