Why HINGE dont stack with solar panel?

Deceptive image. Looking at the other side, you see the rotor doesn't take up a full side of the block, so if it could connect it would look like it doesn't. You probably can't put any block there that doesn't meet the edge.

I've made folding panels before, run a line of armour blocks along the panel edge to make a snapable surface for the hinge (and double stack the hinges).

It's annoying however that you can't snap directly with hinges (and rotors if I remember right).

In case you wondering how i started on first hinge. I poked 1x1 hole in ship wall place 1x1 merge block behind ship wall. Then built 1st panel in space with hinge and merge on hinge and shoved through the 1x1 hole in a wall all thing with one of those Flying chairs:

Maybe theres a simpler way but i was glad i got to use that chair because its collecting dust for almost decade in space.

Yeah, I ran into this same issue a while back. The part that also sucks is that the Solar panel doesn't want to snap to blast door blocks directly as well so I had to use 2 corner light armor blocks at the ends of the blast blocks for the solar panel to snap to it. I had to use the blast blocks so that clang wouldn't do clang things with it folding in against a flat surface.

Keen designated it as normal thing because "MODEL HAS A GAP SO ITS NOT A BUG" Just because its not a mechanical bug doesnt mean its not a design fail that needs to be fixed.
But they dont care. Less work = more money saved.
p.s.
Same happened when i was asking to fix armor blocks where vertical/horizontal blocks touching only EDGE do not merge. But sideways cut blocks touching only edge merge.
it just makes no sense. Either all merge or none merge. It prevents building cylinder objects like multistage rocket or docking tube with smooth edges. But they said "I dont see whats the problem".
