how to project forward a blueprint projection
I need to place a projector. It will provide the very same blueprint of its spacecraft carring that very same projector. I want it projected so I will be sure of what it takes to complete the blueprint in case of first construction or when in need of repairs.
I don't, I can't discern a absolute side of the projector. can I have some hint from the developers? I mean like a "this projector side, when lit projects the blueprint forward"...at least a forward projection side...right wing? left wing? port? starbord? just like the word camera on the camera block...etcetera.

I need to know from you 'cos I give up. When it comes to blueprints and projections I feel so groggy.

please post screenshots and comments below. many many thanx

The " + " goes on top.

and the " - " must be vertical and this one is pointing the forward position so goes in front

+ = top

l = front (Blueprint forward, based on cockpit, position)

I believe the "+" end of the projector is the top.....

Should it matter though? It shouldn't matter much because you can turn the projection to where it matches the ship orientation, then align the projection to match the ship.

Yes, ShadedMJ says right and because a lot of Workshop Blueprint are not setup properly so more than usual to redo the orientation/setup.

++ Possible to build ships and carefully position the first block = that will be the projector position.

+++ Aiming at a specific block when creating the Blueprint will set this block as the first.

Setup from a Seat, go to Projector in control panel so you can see what is going on and position the Bp using the sliders :

The complete blueprint-projector-system need a massive rework. Why comes this without auto-alignment?!... and always work with the projection-setup.... and btw ui with sliders always in the way of view.... LOL thats crap, put ui-alpha down is not the way how a good system works... - this sux... -.- (and dont come now with: oh, dude, use a terminal/buttons - makes it not better) ;P

(its like a missing: faction-system with ranks for the members or faction-areas with war-feature, or spacemap.... or jumpgates..., enocomy-system, skill-system, sense for planets...., etc pp)

Dont think about the detail, how old the blueprint-projectorsystem is.... and dont let us talk about welding-feature.... (why is the nanite-mod / autocraft-parts of the projection not vanilla?!) Oo - no progress since years... (why need a modder do your work?!) - sad, rly sad... Oo -.-

ok so plus is top. vertical minus looks ahead.

yes you are right. it shouldn't, but I could put a block with lots of intents in mind. maybe a projector could be a "projector placeholder", or maybe I could put it "ready for action", maybe this is main projector. and this is hangar small ship projector.
anyway it's easy to lose direction. the camera block has for example lampbulb and protection bar, but the word camera on it makes the difference.

It's not clear. the "first block" and the "aiming"quotes sound strange.
first block is at least objectionable, and the aiming when taking blueprints seems ridiculous.
I understood the top - front design of the projector block, only to find me stuck with the first block mess.
some discrete field like "main cockpit" could be better. could it be "projection pivot". yes it would be present in all the blocks properties. checking the field could open the value list for the projection rotation and moving.

@ raffaccio

Seems to be good ideas to share on the new Vote Protal! > https://support.keenswh.com/
(one per threads for the vote system to work properly)

Tho I'm not a Dev but one of the Moderator that likes to help and very active player since 2013.

To know more about the "First block" = better do some testing (what I did) with the projector and blueprints to know what I meant.
