It would help a lot if you said if this was for a planet or space.
I don't think that is possible for a planetary ship. There is no known way to get the data from the ore detector. Raycast camera might be able to indicate surface ore but not underground ore. You'd have to locate the ore yourself which invalidates the "finds the ore" part.
In space, it can probably be done but will take a long time because it doesn't know where to look.
I've seen drones where you dock it with your station, bring it to an ore deposit, point it at the ore, and it makes multiple trips getting ore for you.
