How to supergrid?
I would love to make some of the new DLC blocks into supergrids for use on small grids but have had no success with changing the file. After altering the gridsize to small and reloading the blueprint in the f10 menu, it says that the block is small but pastes in as a large block. Any help would be much appreciated!

Unfortunately this mod doesnt convert DLC blocks into supergrids. Thank you for the help though.

Not recommended unless you really want to put effort into it. I have not tried this yet.

It looks like supergridding is accomplished by enabling in the game opfions (that's the easy part), but then you have to blueprint a ship and edit the blueprint SBC file outside of game in some way. I assume this is something like turning individual blocks from large grid to small grid and then altering their position or something.

I know the basics, blueprint a single block, open the Bp.sbc file, then change the gridsize to small, then save and reload your blueprints. I've done this and the blueprint says its a small grid but when pasted it is still a large grid. Definitely willing to put effort into it, I only want a few of the DLC blocks.

But how to open .sbc file? Everyone says that you could just open it with text editor, but when I'm trying to do so, all i get is a bunch of random characters. I tried almost all encodings, but still didn't get anything readable. What an i doing wrong?

If you're getting random characters, that isn't an SBC, an SBC is XML.

To supergrid, regardless that I don't like it,
You edit the blueprint SBC, this will be a lot of XML, nearly a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, containing positions & subtypeIDs of the blocks on the grid.
But it shouldn't be random characters', so that's very odd. I suggest Notepad++

I am aware that this is a very late answer.

But for the record, if you delete the bp.sbcB5 flie, then the values for <GridSizeEnum> you changed in bp.sbc become valid (in analogy to the sandbox.sbcB5 wich has to be deleted before messing with the sandbox.sbc of a save file).

If anyone wonders, yes, cargo ports still work on functional large blocks supergridded onto a small grid, but it is a bit tricky to find the cargo ports to connect a medium conveyor port to the smaller bounding box of the supergrid. Although the conveyor port remains on the same relative position in the new bounding box inside the model, it is necessary to connecti it with a large port on small grid and the new conveyor converter is especially useful for this purpose.

I found it useful for modded blocks to blueprint only the frame or a ground state of a large block, then edit the blueprint, then weld it back up after pasting. The superdridded block could then be blueprinted again without issues. Otherwise I was stuck with blocks that could not be interacted with (no placing of other blocks on them or grinding them) and probably were indestructable. Edit: It is reset again after reload of the save
