Report a translation problem
Agreeing that parachutes do not work with speed mods.
I've also heard people say "no mods interfering" which is actually "yes, we have mods but we only think they aren't interfering" only to find they are.
@Jel : Use the same construction in one of your own games with no mods loaded and see if it works correctly.
And i tested it above an ice lake which should match your "sea level" :)

5 Canvas per Parachute
Manually opening the chute works fine (1canvas) so...
Is the parachute turned on?
This test with small block ship = 5 canvas per chutes and it worked auto:

But using only 1 Canva per chute on my large block ship = I had to do it manually :

More testing needed so test it again and share what you have found and I will add to my report.
I'll check the 5 canvas thing again tomorrow.
