yeah allmighty SpaceEngineer, can fly from planet to planet but hasn´t invented a simple
lightning rod.
Somehow technical evolution failed.

Hi, go to world advanced setting, disable the Weather and click OK to apply.

+

Restart Steam (close and restart), go to world advanced setting, enable Weather and click OK to apply.

That should fix the problem you have.

Add Decoys and/or Safe Zone to protect your shtuff!

edit

Seems Decoys are not working with lighting.

i thought the lightning was random and not targeting players, the only lighting that targeted players was server admins / moderators that can use it as a "stop your exploiting" tool, maybe some moderator or admin is just abusing it (you said you were on a server)

Nope the lightning targets you. IF there is no other block that seems more atractive :)
Some players that have just started on a planet on my server just get frustrated.

I personally think that it´s just bs NOT having any protection from lightning when at the same time we have jumpdrives, ion thruster and gravity generators. What kind of technology is this supposed to be ?

Yes, my weather has been crazy. If you'll pardon the Star Wars references, I went from living in the back country of Naboo to full-time Kamino in 1 day. ;) The lightning has hit a few of my structures and blown holes in the walls. It hit a ship I was in and blew the landing gear off of 1 side, but I haven't actually been killed/injured yet, so there's that. It would be nice to be able to alter the duration of the weather in question and also set a "clear" interval so there's not a matter of going from light rain to heavy to thunderstorm and back again pretty much over and over.

Personally I like the concept of weather having a impact on the enviroment.

By the way, it states in the update notes that "the decoy is the lightening rod of SE".

Others have mentioned that it's possible that a admin is targeting players.

So, if the base has decoys but you're still lightning's favorite target . . . I would suspect something was going on.

@Dantheotherone

You are right about the Decoys tho one member (Jel) tested it and told me it was not working.

I just noticed it is specified in the new Official Weather Guide :

Edit

Thunderstorms can spawn on Earthlike and Alien. Thunderstorms are arguably the most dangerous weather for grids, though damage can be prevented if you know your stuff. Lightning in thunderstorms has a low chance of hitting your grid or player, if it hits your grid, you may want to have a decoy in place. Decoys are the lightning rod of SE, antennas will be struck if you do not have one. If you don't have a decoy or antenna, a random functional block will be struck with lightning. You can also prevent any lightning from hitting your grid by moving underground.

Digging now...

I'm on the "Lost Colony" planet, and while I've been playing today, it has rained non-stop. I mean one day RL. It's been a month on the planet...

You did say that's a bug, right?
herrschaftg35 Jun 27, 2020 @ 11:16am
It is probably just your server admin playing sith lord.
Dan2D3D  [developer] Jun 27, 2020 @ 12:41pm
Guys, it will be better soon, well next week I think.

Here a reply from Dev :

" I think the bigger problem right now is the bug that is causing weather to constantly spawn, this you guys are getting a lot more bad weather then you should. Like 3 times as much. "
