The target will be a TINY small-grid...something. Rarely, it'll have an antenna/beacon, but don't count on it. Since it's so tiny, it likely will NOT render on your screen until you're right on top of the blasted thing. How tiny are these things? Some of them are even smaller than the 'Unknown Signal' supply drops. (and I don't mean the big roller ball, either)
When you *DO* find it and get close enough, it'll self-destruct/despawn, and the contract is fulfilled. The credits and rep will be awarded automatically without needing to go back to that station.
Happy hunting.
Ok thank you.
Wow, had to read that twice... Read 750 Km at first...
:)
UPDATE
Having better luck now, completing multiple search missions just had to slow ship down and look for smaller objects. Thanks again everyone.
One eliminates the grainy overlay since you should have good enough cameras and screens that such grainy quality shouldn't exist.
The other makes it so you can hold the alt key and pan the camera to different angles.
This would let you scan around you faster, by zooming in on distant objects
