Last known location of ship
I just came back to this amazing game, and am giving contracts a try which I think is a excellent addition to the game. But certain contracts I have to go to a waypoint, labeled "Last known location of ship". When I get to these waypoints, there is nothing there. Maybe a rock or two in the area, but no ship, no nothing. Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?

It's a SEARCH contract. The search target will be somewhere within 750m of the coordinates given. On planet, it's usually a little easier, as you just have to look at what's on the surface (and hopefully not hidden under a bush or something) In space... it's a full 750 meter SPHERE to check. and likely won't have any flashing lights.

The target will be a TINY small-grid...something. Rarely, it'll have an antenna/beacon, but don't count on it. Since it's so tiny, it likely will NOT render on your screen until you're right on top of the blasted thing. How tiny are these things? Some of them are even smaller than the 'Unknown Signal' supply drops. (and I don't mean the big roller ball, either)

When you *DO* find it and get close enough, it'll self-destruct/despawn, and the contract is fulfilled. The credits and rep will be awarded automatically without needing to go back to that station.

Happy hunting.

Ok thank you.
You have to search around that area, it is the last KNOWN location.

Wow, had to read that twice... Read 750 Km at first...

Yeah, 750 Km wouldn't exactly be a fair search. That's more space/volume than all of the planets and moons combined. It's bad enough with just 750 meters. At 750km, even if it had a beacon at max range, you'd still play hell ever finding the damn thing, even without the timer running.

Last advice: Never accept a search contract at night.
:)

You're trying to find a small-grid probe or drop pod of some sort.

Thanks all for the help, I found one on a mission, but many times I search a wide area around the waypoint and find nothing. I will fly lower and slow down a bit.

UPDATE
Having better luck now, completing multiple search missions just had to slow ship down and look for smaller objects. Thanks again everyone.

If you download two camera mods, it makes it easier.

One eliminates the grainy overlay since you should have good enough cameras and screens that such grainy quality shouldn't exist.

The other makes it so you can hold the alt key and pan the camera to different angles.

This would let you scan around you faster, by zooming in on distant objects

Cool thanks, so many cool mods for this awesome game hehe.

Yeah, sorry I don't have the exact names of those mods. If you search for Splitsie on YT, you'll find his series called survival unlikely. The description of the first episode has a link to a mod collection. I grabbed several from that list.
