Hi. try the forum workaround(s) first:

1 - Restart the PC

> Verify the game files with Steam.
> Delete the CFG file.
__________

> How to Verify integrity of game cache:

- Right click on Space Engineers in your Steam Library.
- Go to properties.
- Go to LOCAL FILES tab.
- Click Verify integrity of game cache
- When done try the game.
___________

> Type in your explorer: %appdata%\SpaceEngineers
Go to the SpaceEngineers folder
C: users / your username / appdata / roaming / spaceengineers

>> then delete the ''SpaceEngineers.cfg'' file and try the game.

:clang: Doing so resets all SE options and controls to default.

Make sure Windows updates are completed and your AND Graphic driver, too if not up to date..

If nothing works >> Share the game log file :

How to share the log on Steam =

The game log can be found here:
C:\Users\{YOUR WINDOWS USERNAME}\AppData\Roaming\SpaceEngineers\SpaceEngineers.log

or simply paste this into your Explorer:
%appdata%\SpaceEngineers

The log file should be from the game session where you've encountered the bug. If you start the game again, the log will be overwritten.
post log file to www.pastebin.com and share the link on forum.

I guess it happened because my computer is windows 7. Can this game be opened at windows 7?

Yes, I still have a PC with Windows 7 at home and SE runs very well in it.

Maybe try this =

You can try replacing/ overwriting a single file in the Bin64 folder. Assuming everything is up to date, this seems to fix the crashing it for some people (mostly those who have a Ryzen CPU).

Go to your Library, find the Tools tab, look for "Space Engineers - Mod SDK". It's one of the game dev tools Keen released to everyone for free. Download the tool and then open up its folder. Go to Bin64_Profile and copy VRage.Library.dll. Now open up your Space Engineer folder and paste that in the Bin64. When asked to replace, click yes.

You should at least be able to start the game. It seems that some people get far fewer crashes, but experience quite a bit of stutter. I personally have a pretty smooth ride now on a R9 3900X, 1080 ti x2, and 32 GB DDR4.

Dan means well, but his copy/ pasted generic help is pretty useless. In this case, this update seems to have broken things for so many users. Mostly those on Ryzen, but they aren't the only ones.

Hi Lucifer,
Yeah I tried the VRage.library.dll trick and it still hung at the loading screen. I just upgraded my system. Now running:

Ryzen 9 3900x
XFX AMD RX 590
Vengence rgb pro 64 GB 3200 mhz
MSI MPG Gaming Edge Wi-Fi (now with lemon fresh sent!)

any other thoughts or tricks?

AMD users are having problems since 2019 and worst after last month major game update, some are not able to play at the moment and the SE programmer is on it,

You may help by sharing the game log file with the SE programmer :

I'm not going to Keen's website to share yet another log file. Already done it many times and the bugs I reported, as well as many others, still all exist. At this point, it's either fix it for yourself or uninstall and play something else.

That said, I'm sorry for those that have issues. Replace that .dll file, delete the shadercache2 folder, and re-install net framework. Those are my only ideas.

@Lucifer69

I am in since the beginning and always got my fixes after reporting a game bug.

Try telling that to the over one hundred who have already voted on the recent AMD CPU/ GPU reports and they all still crash. There's far more reports though dating back to over a year ago, all with hundreds of votes and no fix.

Anyways, we're beating a dead horse. My complaints about Keen won't change anything. The many bugs this game now suffers likely won't get patched, more will be added in the future, and those who have issues will eventually give up/ refund the game.

so there is no way an AMD user can play SE?
Ahrimaan Apr 9, 2020 @ 11:03am
Seems not, i am an AMD user and cannot play. And no refund possible ......

Depends on the system it seems, I have a Ryzen 7 2700x and a 1080Ti and have no issues with SE.
Hard to say what is causing all those AMD related problems lately, so far it looks like mainly the newer ZEN 2 CPUs are affected.
Could have something to do with hardware configuration as well.

I really wanted to play SE for years and i just got this PC. Now i cant open the game up :((

I was using a AMD Radeon HD 6800 a few yesrs ago and had to wait 2 time without being able to play my Fav games so it may be the same thing again = have to wait for a fix and why it is important to report directly with the SE programmer to let him know if you want a faster fix.

Edit

Report directly to the SE programmer so he can chat with you if he need more info :

Email = support@keenswh.com
Or
Support Portal = https://support.keenswh.com/spaceengineers/general
(create "Bug report" on the Portal)
