Star System - Cobalt
I have tryed about 10 different systems. and can not seem to find Cobalt i have gone out 3km the ore detector does not seem to pick up cobalt. I am using the Earth Planet. you need coalt to build metal grinds which use in many different parts. can any help. or is there problem with the game and have wait for the devs to fix it.

3km is not far in SE. Planets have a 120km diameter. Try using a large ore detector set to its max range, and probe areas on planets which have a slight discoloration to the terrain.

Hi, I recommend to play at the "easy Biomes", the ones where we don't need a ore detector.

That is one of the best easy Biomes on Earth like :

Best is on sand :

The Mars planet is the best to find ores faster and also to have a flat terrain for rovers = :selike:

Easy to see the white ore spots on sand :

There are no problems with the game regarding this.

Usual answers :
Small grid ore detector only goes to 50m. Use a large grid ore detector.
Look around more.

If you don't mind mods, there are mods that increase ore detector range by quite a lot.

More

All ores -1 (Uranium) can be found way more faster on Moon so that is the place to go when playing in space :

Youre just unlucky. Its there somewhere. In my current game I had cobalt close to my earth spawn and later found it pretty quickly on the moon, found it with small detector.

You often need LARGE ore detector to find it and it should be set to max range. There's ton of cobalt on earthlikes, but it might not be within 3 km radius. Try scouting 10 kilometers. When you find it, you'll usually find so much that it will clog your refineries for days.

How do you even get started on "Star System"? You start with nothing but a small lander that can't move (on Earth-like), you have no materials to build anything and no way to find minerals. All you can do is recharge your suit at the lander for a while. Am I missing something?

The stone is usable and the survival kit can process some, so along with that and components from the lander you can work your way up from there. A basic refinery and basic assemblers should be among the first to build. Easiest way to spot ores is still to use the jetpack and fly up to look for dark spots and then investigate.

Oh I see. I just started up the game for the first time in a hundred years and had no idea that stone can be used for assembling stuff now... and that minerals may be spotted on the surface of an earth-like planet.

You need to scout in ten to twenty kilometer radius, and you need to use large grid ore scanner set to max range.

You mine stone with drill, stuff it into survival kit and refine it into materials, then build a base and other ships. You can also modify your starting ship to make it fly.
