Conveyor sorter problem
Hi.

Got a refinery with a conveyor sorter on the top port set to blacklist gravel and pointing away from the refinery. There's a conveyor pipe coming out of it pointing at the floor.

When I put stone in there, it refines ok, but the gravel just sits there rather than being ejected. What am I doing wrong?

Cheers.

Hi, use only one at a time, you need a container with a Sorter on one of its ports to set what you want to go into that container = that is the basics.

Here is a basic example of how we empty a ship in one second :

Place the Sorter on the container you want your stuff to go in :

> Must setup the Sorter > add to "Whitelist" the stuff you want to go in the container and check the Drain All box.

So setup one Sorter per container first and go more complex creation later, well when you will have more XP/Practice.

From the description of your setup, I see 2 problems.

1. You have the sorter set to blacklist gravel. This means that gravel cannot pass through the sorter. You need to whitelist gravel instead.

2. For your pipe pointed at the floor, just a conveyor tube with nothing on the end won't do anything. You need something on the end. A connector set to throw out the gravel should work.

Nope. Changed the blacklist to whitelist and also tried putting the sorter after the conveyor tube (so it's the last block in the chain). Still doesn't work..

I'm sure it's something simple - like me.

By the sound of it, you still didn't give the gravel anyplace to go after the sorter. Note my suggestion of a connector set throw it out in my previous post.

You need to whitelist the gravel on teh sorter that is supposed to pull gravel from the refinery. Then you should check "drain all" checkbox. Then it will steal all the gravel from refineries.

Additionally it needs to GO somewhere. Either into another container, or you should dump it outside thoruhg connector. Attach either to the gravel connector.

Keep in mind that when it's not working = we have found "not working" concept and must redo new / different because it was not working.

Correct me if I am wrong :

---> You want the "Gravel" to get out of the of the Refinery.

Solution =

Refinery --- Conveyors ---- Sorter on Container port.

>> Setup the Sorter > Whitelist "Gravel" and check the "Drain All" Box.

Best I can get it to do is put everything into the sorter where it sits. I'm looking to jettison it into a hole.

I'll have another go in the morning. Bed time.

Cheers.

If it is to eject = you just need the proper container that can eject and that is the connector.

It will look like this :

Solution =

Refinery --- Conveyors ---- Sorter on Connector back port.

>> Setup the Sorter > Whitelist "Gravel" and check the "Drain All" Box.

+

>> >> Setup the Connector to "Thow out".

Edit

Most important when playing with Sorter =

We must create a "IN" and a "OUT" because we can't take out from the Sorter side that will be set on "Drain All".

Yup. 5 minutes after a decent night's sleep and it works great.

Thanks for all the help.

There is always a solution but it needs a Engineer trying and testing different concepts to find it.
