suggestion; heat seeking shoulder mounted fire and forget rocket launcher!!
i mean lock time - 20 secands,

DAMAGE - same as a normal rocket if not slightly less

affect - it tracks and follow's the target untill dettination/hit

block type - IT ISNT A ♥♥♥♥ING BLOCK its a item like the smg, its a hand held launcher that locks onto heat souces like a thruster and well i need not say more

should this be added, it would be great for defending easy earth from pirates early on, from a scale of 1 to 100 how much is this item needed and what do you think about my idea?

I think a man-portable rocket launcher would be a solid weapon to round out the game, but as far as seeking goes I'd rather see that applied to the existing missile weapons before Keen went about adding a whole new player weapon with the mechanic.

they were experimenting with this, they've had guided missiles in the code for ages, thats how that guided missile mod was made. but heres the thing, keen decided not to put them in game and i think i know why. their totally op.

so, id be well up for an rpg maybe even a grenade launcher too..but not a man portable stinger.

edit - if they added a chaff system with those guided missile though... that could work

yeah currently the only chaff is a cloud of decoys, and that's a bit hard to implement right now. Not saying decoy chaff is not doable, but I have not built it yet...

I would like this too, i wouldnt mind a pistol and a sniper iether. Im not a big combat person in this game but i do feel like it needs more fleshing out.

IMO neither a pistol nor a sniper really fill a needed niche.

The rifle is a servicable "personal defence weapon" to use against other entities that manage to get close to you or against other players during boarding operations. It's worthless against ships/grids (mostly- sustained fire can take out interior turrets, which fill the role of an "automated" rifle basically).

A pistol would just be a weaker/shorter range version of the rifle, which is already of limited use.

A sniper rifle is only really there for long-range combat, and long-range combat in this game is FAR better served through ships.

Think about it this way:

Player vs. Player: Rifle
Grid vs. Player: Turrets/ships
Grid vs. Grid: Turrets/ships
Player vs. Grid: ???

Basically I think that a man-portable rocket launcher would fill a needed niche (Player vs. Grid), a weapon capable of providing light defence against small-grid aggressors or a means of sabotaging/boarding large-grid ships and stations.

I sort of agree with you on the pistol. I just think its a nice thing to have to make the game a bit more feature complete. The sniper however on planets would be a great cost effective tool to use at range against other players. I think it does serve a purpose to use for scouting and hunting enemy players. It could even be used as an anti-material rifle to take out exposed systems that are not covered with armor at range. Like turrets for example.

"Feature Complete" shouldn't mean "Putting stuff in for the sake of putting stuff in", it should mean "Is a coherent and well-balanced/tuned experience".

A pistol doesn't fill a missing niche in the game- it doesn't need nor benefit from adding one.

As for your proposed sniper uses... I gotta disagree right back at you. For one thing, that you suggested it for "turret sniping" is a HUGE red flag to me, considering turret sniping was always the most "lol f u" tactic in MP (and singleplayer, really- it made any NPC ship laughably easy to take out). The game was tweaked to make turret sniping much, much harder- while previously you could do it using a small-grid ship armed with gatlings or rockets, they changed the weapon ranges so that player-controlled weapons no longer outrange turret tracking.

The last thing we need is a man-portable anti-material rifle that can do what it used to take an entire ship to do.

Sniping players also seems decidedly "unfun" to me from a vanilla perspective- while I can see the benefit if one is using SE as more of a "scenario toolkit", that's something that mods service.

In the core game itself, I'm not sure many people would have fun being killed instantly outside of a ship by a player well outside the range of any defences.

Yeah you make a good point on the range it might be more balanced if the weapon had the same range as the turrets then. It would still be useful and i think serve a purpose atleast on planets. As i said with the pistol, it would be just a nice thing to have. :)

I imagine that the precise AR, if reskinned, and tweaked a bit (little more accuracy, maybe little less fire rate) would be a fair automatic sniper.

I also once wanted the 200m missile containers to double as something like LAW rockets.

my only reason is that apon starting any station, a pirate ship will fly to us within 5 minutes of each other, shoot ALL THE SOLAR PANNELS

and then turret will be half distroyed, and the station is allmost non existant,

i am fine with the pirates etc i want drones or another faction to defend the base from, but there is a lack of defensive turrets or ways to take out said drones/pirates



maybe i am just new or not thinking of ways that are

1: quick

2: cheap

3: affective

but how in the world do i defend from constant attacks apon starting a new world, i feel a few more turrets could def fill the gap

but i think their is a new minigun turret being added soon so i will wait till the teaser trailer is actually ingame with that new shiney turret

It is the new skin for the current gattling turret.
Currently, the ranged weapon blocks, in DPS, go:

3rd Interrior Turret (with the fire rate of a T1 AR, but far better accuracy)
2nd Gattling Gun (The small ship fixed and the large ship turret match each other, and out gun the small ship turret)
1st Missile Turret (The tubes generally fire faster than the turrets)
