How do I turn off this stupid HUD element?

I tried googling how to disable this, and I have all the "show hints" options under gameplay turned off, but it won't go away. I don't need half my screen taken up by a giant block of text describing what I'm holding in my hand, I can see it for myself. If I clear it by hitting tab, it just comes back the moment I switch items in my hand.

Press TAB once to hide the info window, pressing TAB a secound time hides the compleat HUD and a third time will show the full HUD again.

That doesn't remove it completely. If I remove the window, switch to something else (like switch from welder to grinder), the info block comes back. I have to keep hitting tab every time I switch toolbar items. Just like 90% of the rest of the content in the game, its a half-assed implementation of an idea that didn't even sound good on paper.

Hm... that is new to me, for me the info window stays closed when I hit TAB once.

Not shure why it doesn't do that for you.

I'm sorry, but you seem to be the only one having this problem. It might be a problem with one of your mods, your hardware, or graphics drivers. I'd recommend updating your graphics drivers and checking to see if your game is on the latest version. Also, I'm surprised that Keen doesn't allow us to hide the components list.

I only have to press tab once and it stays disabled forever, even through reloading the game.

It sounds like you might need to verify files or are having a mod conflict.
I'm betting mod conflict.

Your description is not how it behaves for everyone else.
