How do I flip my ship back over
Trying out different atmo miners from the workshop in creative. Every single one of them ended up flipped over on their tops. everyone of them could not flip back over. I know there was a keybind of a sort that would level the ship out.

Hi, share some Steam screenshots so we can see what is going on.

Good Engineers will use pistons place on specific position to help getting it back on its wheels.

Some like to use a Tug ship and grab the car with landing gear to flip it over.

A lot can be done and it just need a Engineer trying to find the solution.

Making working Cars is a hard challenge in this game and not all Engineers are able to create good cars tho some have found more stable solutions by testing different car concepts.

Hints :

Low profile Heavy cars are better in race scenarios.

Wheel Friction = Better do cool drifting than flipping over.

Wheel Strength = Find the proper value so the car does not get damaged on landing after a jump.

They are atmo miners, not rovers, they fly. The problem is they get in a hole and as I am turning around they are flipping over and laying flat on the roof or top of the vehicle, hence needing to be flipped over. WASDQE and all mouse movements do not help. 4 different ships, same problem. Needing a second ship to flip over another is a bit ridiculous. Game mechanics here are a little bit of a pain, the constant needing to QE when using a jetpack.....

i still ove my "vertical miner" design. No flipovers ever

AH! sorry,

Just share your world on the Workshop and I will go in to see what is going on and be able to share the solution.

How to publish a world save :

1 - Select your save.

2 - Click the "Publish" button on the left.

3 - Skip the "Exploration" Tag cause that got rules to follow and click the OK button.

4 - Your world will be uploaded to Steam Workshop.

5 - Tell me when ready.

"Good engineers" as opposed to good developers that can actually create realistic physics as opposed to the fake ones they use as a selling point on the game. *shrug*

you're going to want enough thrusters pointing up that can lift the ship while it's upside down and then you can turn around once you're airborne. If the ship is carrying to much cargo you might have to eject it all through a connector or manually and the use the drills to pick the items up off the ground.

Most atmospheric designs I know don't use downwards thrusters, so if you flip over you're going to fall to the ground and be unable to come back up.

if you have been falling to one side or the other, then a) learn to control your ship or b) place enough thrusters on every direction. you can use f=ma to figure out how many thrusters you're going to need on each side, where a=gravity

if there are thrusters on each side, press SPACE to go up, C to go down, OR, if you flipped over, SPACE to go down and C to go up.

I use to have this problem. The only way I solved it was was to empty all cargo, right click dig a hole and hope you have enough gyros that you roll your ship into the hole you are digging. Once you are out you should add more thrusters. Don't forget to add a few extra in the direction your miners are facing as you will have a bad habbit of looking down while mining and tipping it off its stable plane

6way thrust
gyro
dig it out
push piston
lighten the load
slow down
fly straight when you turn

combination of all or some of the above

or the easiest thing to do is do upside down thrusters so if it happens you can lift it up and flip with gyro(s)

You're going to need more gyros in your designs in the future to keep from getting in these situations. More gyros = more stability.

Now as to how to make what you've got do more... In the control panel, select your gyros, scroll down to the Override settings. Enable the Override, then get ready to shut OFF the override in a hurry. Roll, pitch and yaw are available, so pick one (roll or pitch are better here), set to maximum and kill the override just after you've gotten over the peak of being flipped. (otherwise, it'll keep spinning you until ... boom)
The override +/- can be put on the hotbar, as well as the override on/off (I think... haven't looked in a while).

Here's what i usualy do when i flip my atmo mining ships: Get a fresh tab in the cockpit, set up "Gyro Overwrite On/Off" and then set the increase/decrease for overwrite power in every direction to the other buttons. Slowly start increasing the power until you notice the ship starting to flip. If the direction you're going is bad, bring the overwrite back down to 0 and try the next axis. As soon as the ship starts flipping, turn Overwrite off IMMEDIATELY. I usually need around 9 rpm to flip my small grid miner which means as soon as it overcomes the force to flip i have about 5 seconds before it turns into an animal of Clang.
Also, i would check out the auto level script if you're playing somewhere with scripts active. I usually put that one on miners to make sure they don't flip so easily. It might even be usable for flipping your ship, though i've never tried that.
Also, more thrusters can solve almost any problem you'll encounter.
