I havent figured out how to have it not fill the tanks but I guess its just gona do that automaticly (I might experiment with a script on the programmable block though).
And yes OP I noticed the same that I had a hydrogen tank connected to the H2/O2 generator and it uses up the ice at a slow rate to produce oxigen to fill up most likely the cockpit of the small ship connected to my base on the same conveyor system. As when I haven't used that ship for a while it will stop consuming ice all together.
But it does not want to make hydrogen to fill up that hydrogen tank, as I want it to do so I have spare hydrogen to tank up my hydrogen powered ships in case I run out of ice. Or that don't have to wait for it to make hydrogen to fill up my ships hydrogen tanks. Just dock the ship, the ship tanks should be topped of from the base hydrogen tank and then that base tank should be topped off by the H2/O2 generator when it has ice. Or at least that is the setup I want to go for.
I have a Hydrogen engine. That is why I need the hydrogen. -.-
I want it to be used by my engine to make power for my car.
That would mean it is not making power.
There is no O2 tank attached.
Yep, but you need to do that to fill it. Then you switch it off stockpile while you use engine or thruster. Then when you dock to refuel back to stockpile ;)
PS the engine is very inefficent for powering a car, it eats ice too quickly. Power it with batteries then switch on hydro engine only to quickly charge up batts

Try turning all the engines off and see if the tanks fill. Also, the stockpile option is used to drain tanks from other places into ones with stockpile set. All the tanks will fill up on there own evenly without this setting.
So for instance if you have a vehicle with a hydro tank, set this to stockpile. That way when it docks to a base all the hydrogen tanks on in the base will fill the vehicle tanks. (You can also use this to loot ships that have hydro/oxy tanks on them)
Nobody is reading my post. I WANT THE HYDROGEN FOR THE ENGINE, TO MAKE POWER FOR THE BATTERY. THE ICE IS BEING CONSUMED BUT NO POWER IS BEING MADE.
Your vastly underestimating how much h2 the engine consumes vs how much h2 a single o2 gen makes.
So turn the engine off add a h2 tank if you don't have one and let the tank fill up to 1% full or so and then turn the engine on. it will probably instantly use up that much h2 but you get to see it show up in the grid stats.
