One of many...
To be clear, my mining ship was docked to my base with a connector-connector dock. I hit the 'Y' button and my ship dropped to the ground and everything went dark. I couldn't turn anything on or off. My game had saved so I didn't have a save point before my base with dark. So when I left the game and reloaded the game, everything started working again.
That's what makes me thing this is a bug and not your fault bud. I only have 50 hours in this game, and I'm stoned right now, so I could be wrong.
I fixed it.
All I needed to do was either, when looking in the control panel press the "See Hidden" button (the eye next to search) Or place down a cockpit and press Y 3 times. lol..
I do on all my small ships, so I can turn off their power (and only their power sources) after docking.
Good idea to do this with other systems too, such as thrusters. It's a real pain trying to shut them down after you have docked.
Good Idea. I need to learn how to make groups so I can shut the engines off when docked. I'm sure that also helps with recharging the battery, huh?
I'll have to remember that. I don't think the developers intended on this being a thing, or THAT being the fix. XD
And it's worth doing both power and thrusters. Because of course if you turn off the small ships power, it will still be powered once connected. And that means the thrusters will still fire, sometimes to counteract the direction of whatever ship your docked too....
Ah, I get it. Like making a 'mothership' and docking a smaller ship to it the smaller ship's engines would still run when docked.
Saves a lot of power and fuel having small grids do it, but of course they don't have jump drives. That's where the mothership comes in.
bases as well.
Y - Turn off power on the grid = seems to work on ALL grids connected, not just your ship.
P - Undock connector/landing gear = ^ fun times when you have multiple ships connected to your base with their engines off and you use P to disconnect one, they fall down to the ground.
GROUPS/components - So you have a few ships with groups for their batteries, thrusters and connectors(because you dont want to use P), you name them Batteries, Thrusters and Connectors. = Guess what? Groups also work through the entire grid so if you have multiple ships with grouped up components with the same name, you will be toggling all of them. Doesnt have to be groups either, if you put a connector with the standard component name into your toolbar, anything named that in the toolbar of another ship will also be used if you press it in one ship.
SE Devs: "We just want to see the world burn!
So, if I have 5 small ships docked and they all have a Thruster/Cockpit group called "Thruster/Cockpit" and I toggle one of the ship's groups with that name then all of them will toggle while connected?
This game is nuts.
