Stuck again in the tutorial - Disable the landing gear!
So, I'm supposed to disable the landing gear either by destroying it or by disabling it. I obviously wanna do it correctly so I try to disable it. Hitting P once inside the cockpit doesn't do the job, however and after running around for another 10 minutes I'm flat out of ideas.

P.S. Am I just to stupid for this game? This is the second time I got stuck in the turorial and I'm thinking about refunding this.

The landing gear is built on the station, not the ship. That means it must be unlocked from the station. The station does not have a control seat, so you need to press K on any station control panel, locate the landing gear, and manually press unlock. Or build a control seat and hit P, I guess.

Remember: 3 block part of the landing gear == magnetic part. 1 block part == connection part. Like metal duck feet.

I havent done the tutorial but afaik disabling a landing gear is not the same as using P.

P is just a temporary 'unlock' function, if you land the ship again the landing gear with lock it to the ground, when its disabled it wont lock again no matter what.

You should be able to do it from the control panel of the ship or if you make a new toolbar shortcut for the landing gear.

*Edit* Might even be On/Off toggle that does it.. cant remember if there is a dedicated disable state for it.

And how do I do that? It would be nice to get specifics for this one - Otherwise I'm running out of the 2 hr refund timeframe.

I dont use standard keybindings but I think its " i " to bring up the control panel. Do it when you are in the cockpit of the ship. Alternatively you can just bring up the inventory and then go to the control panel tab at the top.

When you are in the control panel you have all the components of the ship in a list on the left of the screen, find the landing gear and select it -> middle of screen should now have options for the landing gear.

See if it has a disable setting, if it doesnt try just turning it Off.

For the landing gear, there's a couple ways to do it. There's going in through the control panel (station side, any terminal/container you can access) and scrolling down to the landing gear and hitting the Unlock button. If there is a cockpit/control seat on the grid, the 'P' key will toggle the lock/unlock on all landing gear and connectors. (this can be a bad thing on larger builds)
Or... you've got a grinder, and that landing gear is a problem.

Okay, I got there but there is no landing gear or anything similar on the left hand list.

I'm really losing my patience here. Nothing I try seems to work at all! What the hell is that tutorial even good for other than to confuse me even more with an already pretty complicated game!?

So, is there a solution to this or should I just go for the refund? This just seems like a misleading and frustrating waste of my time!

Tutorial is ♥♥♥♥, But dont give up the game is more than worth it. Go make a coffee and a number and watch a few YouTube vids on it, that way you can just skip the tutorial and get straight to the good stuff.

I gonna try again tomorrow - can't refund anyway cause appearently it added my trial time to the full version playtime. I really, REALLY hate this kinda ♥♥♥♥! The tutorial just seems to ♥♥♥♥ with me instead of teaching me - it almost looks like it's done on purpose so that the dev can have a chuckle about the poor sucker who tries to figure it out!

Do you have a suggestions for a good up to date tutorial? Most I see on Youtube are for outdated early access versions of the game.

The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Thx! I was at the point where I thought that it was impossible without destroying the landing gear. This has to be the most infuriatingly useless tutorial of all time and space! More like a trap than a tutorial.

Yeah i mean, you just have to right click the landing gear when selecting it in the control panel

At least your avatar is appropriate for necro-ing a 3 year old thread. :steamhappy:
Besides, the chosen answer is correct.
