Yellow Solar Panels?
My Solar Panels are showing up with yellow lights on the bottom, and they aren't producing any energy. I want to say that this wasn't an issue before, but I can't be certain. I'm playing survival, and that means that the only way to make batteries and reactors and such is through an assembler, which means I need to make a new grid since assemblers can't be placed on the survival pods, but I can't power the assembler with anything besides a wind generator (I'm on a moon) and solar panels.

Effectively, my progression has been halted for the time being. Any suggestions/fixes?

Edit: I'm in a pretty deep crater as well, but I made a large tower coming out of it so that depth (probably) isn't an issue.

Edit2: Now they're showing up green? I guess it was just a really long night. However they're only producing 500W each, which is just enough to run the Basic Assembler (I have 2), despite their max output (which is still increasing) showing far more. However, the Assembler still says it has no power.

Had the same problem. You just need more Panels.

I play survival with 6 hour days and the only time my solar panels go yellow is when the sun isnt hitting them at a good angle. I've watched the progress of light hitting the panels and they do work from sun up to sun down showing their various stages of power generation.

You need some wind turbines also, 2 solar panels wont be enough for these units.

Red = non-functional/damaged/off
Yellow = block is functional and on but doesn't get any sunlight
Green = generating power, number of green dots indicate how much sunlight it gets

Max. power is generated when the panels face the sun perpendicular and there are no obstructions blocking it.

turn one of the assemblers off, sounds like a power bottleneck and until you have more solar panels it wont get solved.

Have you tried constructing a solar tower to track the sun for max performance of your solar cells ??

isy has the script ( that you will also need to allow scripting within the world if you have access but i believe most servers have this enabled ) constructing a programmable block should also tell you if scripts are enabled in the world or not.

The script and his rendition of a tower can be found here:

Thank you all for the replies, but the survival kit attributed to the settlement was lost and I had no medbay. I will certainly keep these things in mind when I revisit a moon base, however as it is that outpost is now a single tower with some 2 and a half solar panels on the far side of another celestial body.

I just wish that the game would be more clear about that, and to this day I don't know why they were producing so little power. They weren't in the best spot, but even when bathed in sun I doubt they could run interior lights.
