Sounds you got lucky in the past. Asteroids have been been a jackpot for every ore. Usually they contain one to four different kinds of ore.
It's your job to look around, and find the asteroids that have the ore you're looking for.
Some people place GPS coordinates to mark the ores they find.
Good luck finding the ores you're missing.
PS: I hear stone has been changed to produce some of most ores. If you're missing something, maybe try processing the stone you've gathered.

Marking ores in asteroids as furry eskimo mentions is a good method.

I usually name the gps coordinate something like: "ucn1". Which means the asteroid contains uranium cobalt and nickel, the 1 stands for closest to base. I hide the markers by default. Only enable some when mining.

But there are more ways of doing it :)

Also using a fast large ship with an ore dector with bigger range makes it easier to scan the asteroids. Dont forget to set the scan range to max. You might need to circle the asteroid to discover all the goodies.

I somehow find iron in the donut asteroids alot. Maybe coincidence though.

Lemon's definitly right about using a large detector and making a full circle around an asteroid. Sometimes I think I've seen it all, but there's still a massive deposite i've somehow missed.

thanks everyone for your help! furry i also JUST found out that and the problem is that its so hard to find it when you need silver and platinum to already get a small ship! thanks for the help again and also sorry if i could'nt reply faster as i had visit and such. Thanks!

[Edit] Wow i just found an astroid with a ♥♥♥♥ load of platinum i usually dont have this luck... Nice.

[Edit #2] Holly ♥♥♥♥ its a literal MOTHERLOAD of platinum

haha, TOLD YOU

Once you find it you have more than you'll EVER NEED!!!
I used to need silicon and nickel like a normal man needs air. Now I have a million TONS of each and nothing to do with it all! XD

yeah, thanks but still i wonder, can we find gold in astroids as i cant seem to find any .-.

Seems like they made all asteroid ore more rare. I would never have left earth if I knew it would be this hard to find ore in space.

When did they change the ore spawn rates?
I know they changed the rates like, a year ago, but have they since?
I think the trick is to search an area... about ~10-20k meters in diameter. That's the area I needed to search.
(that's the area i can see at all times)

It is definitely more rare to find multiple ore deposits on asteroids as it was before and the deposits are also way smaller now. Some asteroids have mostly only one ore now like ice instead of 2-3 big ore veins like in the past.

Yeah I've played this games since it first came out. I remember huge globs of multiple ores such as gold. It covered an entire asteroid wall, it was huge! But now, they've totally nerfed the spawn rate and amount of ores. It's really quite frustrating. I sent a request to get them to go back to the way it used to be, but I have no idea if they're even considering going back.

The ores are there, but now, you REALLY have to go looking for them. A good idea that others have shared is using a gps coordinate for every ore type deposit you're looking for. Otherwise, you're constantly rehunting for the same deposits you already found.

When I survey I gps mark every asteroid I search. I also add a number to denote how extensive I surveyed it(1 for hand drill, 2 for Small Ore Detector, 3 for Large Ore detector). When I get my Large Ore mining ship ready, I also have a level 4 survey where I drill a hole through the Longitudinal axis of the larger asteriods. I am suprised how often I will find additional ores on a rock I though I had mined out.
