hydrogen engine
how does that thing work???

I have O2/h2 gen. 02 tank, h2 generator, h2 tank (even though it says the h2 gen has its own tank).

can't power my rover whatsover

turn it off and then back on if you haven't tried that. seems to consume as much as a large ship large hydrogen thruster firing though :O i'm seeing it very much as an early game item till i find uranium or if i ever build a hydrogen only ship.

Also last thing you need battery to jump start it.

1. You Need Ice
2. 02/h2 gen(Needs Power to produce)
3. hydrogen engine
4. connect them

didnt work for me, the engine still does not run... why?
the Hydrogen Engine on one of the Starter Ships only runs with the hydrogen in it then never fills again...

show us a picture of what your setup. They hydrogen engine works fine. Its the start up and hook up that gets everyone at first. Too many viarables to just guess whats wrong. In picture I'm looking for clear look at your setup including the Connectors and tubes if any.

I had to put two oxygen generators on it and keep them both full just to keep it's internal tank from going down, I guess you would need at least three o2 gens running to get the thing to start filling while it is running.

ps: the only way I got it to fill was fill a hydro tank somewhere else and then pipe that into the hydro gen.

this worked

tnx

Having the same issue. I started with the Space Pod ship in a star system. The Hydrogen Engine has an internal tank of 50000L. I ran that out then it quite. As long as there is ice in the O2/H2 generator the engine will run, but the tank never refills for me either, and it goes through ice very fast for a measly 5Mw output.

Note that this seems to be THE hydrogen storage on the Space Pod starter ship. Once the engine is out of hydrogen, your SHIP is out of hydrogen and you can't refill your jetpack at the survival kit any more.

This is why it's best to mine for ice by hand drill at the first thing until space pod ship has enough energy for 10 days being idle sitting in space while you can build a new base or ship. You could add solar panels to space pod ship if you wanna. Only thing I added to space pod ship is landing gear so I can dismantle it after building a starting base.

its simple how you can reload the internal hydrogen-engine-tank in a good way:

reload on a station thats build for it: i.e. 4 o2/h2 generators, big container with alot of ice, and a _hydrogen tank_ and you can see... it works. :) (dont forget: hydrogen-engine must be active, and check battery settings, too. (reload/full or on/off) Oh and you need some minutes of time...

is the time on these in game time? Mine said 29 years of power, but it ran out in more like 29 minutes.

I tried running 3 Hydrogen engines on ship with atmospheric thrusters and it just wont work.
IDK about you guys.

they're useless for atm thrusters. you can charge batteries with it (takes forever) and run the thrusters from the batteries though. you can also charge large vehicle batteries using the wind generators if you switch them to station mode. if you're not nomadic like me, wind generators on base, all vehicles on batteries charged by docking should do the trick. if only they produced more power and consumed less H2, love the blocks and their animations
