Restrict Jetpacks from reaching space(unable to leave planets)
Is there a way to stop people just jet packing into space but without removing jetpacks from the server?

IE. You need to build a ship in order to leave a planet.

In the past, before KSH touched it (I found the old system btw better, too -.-.) : Its not possible, because fuel runs out. Not sure with extra-tanks.

I´m not sure, but maybe there is nothing out there, yet. There is a mod that removes jetpacks only in planet-area... maybe this is something for you in the meanwhile. On the other side sounds not rly hard to create here something own, if needed. Just create new values for the use of fuel... and/or delete extra-suittanks. With other words create the old jetpack-system before the update... 2-3 files and 3-4 values, not a big deal.

Thrust == thrust == thrust.

If a jetpack works it can get you to space if you can carry enough fuel. Either decide you dont want them to work on planet at all, or restrict fuel capacity by keeping player inventory at realistic.

If you choose to have magical inventory capacity then jetpacks WILL get you to space.

yeah they just have thrust that makes no sense

No way to fix. Really the only limitation to this is how quickly the suit battery drains, and you can't do much about that without completely screwing over suit lifetime normally.

Just have to accept that people will do what they want, even if it means building a 1000 block tall tower on top of a mountain with a recharge station on it because you disabled hydrogen bottles.

That said, if you know your way with modding, you could probably adjust the maximum speed of a jetpack to be ~70m/s so that it takes longer than just strapping a h2 thruster to a cockpit with h2 generator on the bottom.

When i think about this i always think yeah what an exploit.

But is it..... i mwan the cant carry much up there. If they are going to erry parts like that its gonna take forever. By which timw i will have a real lifting ship built and catch up.

Maybe they actually shoot themselfs in the foot doing it. Guess would have to test :)

Very easy to limit with suit battery. That one uses up roughly 1% while traveling at full speed 1 km. That means you can barely fly to orbit and back in stock game already as it is above 42km, which means 84km in both directions and thus very limited time to do anything else not to mention spending higher energy on mining. If you already have some craft or base there, you could quite safely target 90km range, but that's about it.

So what you could do is move all targets at least 100km from planetary surface or increase energy spending 2. The thing about jet pack - if it can fly at 1G, it sure can do at 0.8 or 0.3 even better. And it does work in space. You could limit it working on surface, but not the other way around.

This works b/c the velocity limits in SE are akin to driving an F1 car into space. Actual exit velocities would never allow a small jetpack to reach space. But the velocities in SE are so unrealistic and limiting so you can.

That's incorrect assumption. If you have at least some speed at sea level, you have even more going higher with jetpack. If you can hover, you can sooner or later also reach speed high enough to go into orbital flight or even escape even launching from real earth. For us the real limit is fuel capacity of jetpacks, which is around 30 sec or so :D

Another option would be to separete between "drone packs" and "jet packs" for surface and space business. Also real space jetpacks don't use fuel, they just release compressed nitrogen.

they aren't really jetpacks, they are hydrogen rocket packs, and as such SHOULD be able to get you to space if you can carry enough fuel. perhaps the solution is to have backpacks toggle between rocket and jet. rocket you get the normal space thrust in space but is too weak on planets. jet you get atmospheric flight with atmos thruster limitations on altitude. I too think it's OP that you can fly in your suit from planets into space, but as the hydrogen rocket packs they are, they SHOULD be able to fly to space, if they have the thrust to lift you they wouldn't be altitude restricted.
