How to use Hydrogen thrusters?
Hello,
I try to use hydrogen thruster, but they won't fire up. Is there something I am missing?
I have:
* One O2/H2 generator
* One Hydrogen Engine, which is fully filled and working
* Hydrogen thrusters. One is even directly attached to the hydrogen engine, and yet not working.
* A Gyroscope
* A Cockpit
* A battery
* Everything is properly connected.

I built this in creative mode and thrusters worked fine. I loaded the save in survival mode and nothing happens. Any idea?

Thank you!

You actually don't need the hydrogen engine for hydrogen thrusters. The engine acts as a source to power other non-hydrogen things (atmo thrusters, charge batteries, etc). You need a hydrogen tank that connects to your thrusters. Thrusters don't have any tank storage themselves, so the o2/h2 generator feeds the hydro tank, then hydro tank feeds the thrusters.

Ah, okay. So the tank in the hydrogen engine is only for the engine?
Thank you!

the tank in the hydrogen engine is just for the hydrogen the engine needs to run and produce power.
Since you pasted your creation in did you also fill the H2/O2 generator with ice to make the hydrogen for the storage tank / thrusters ??
Fat Bird's comment is correct, but not completely.

You do NOT need a hydrogen TANK.

You can have H2/O2 Generators alone, the more the better. You can always build both, if you really want to, but otherwise not needed. You just have to trial and error your own grids.

The only thing that is correct is the fact that Hydrogen Engine is just another TYPE of reactor, which uses ICE for fuel instead of URANIUM. You do not need that if you have access to uranium, but you could have it as well, if you really wanted to.

So. This is why I always tell people... Do not play on CREATIVE. Go on SURVIVAL single player, activate admin commands and build whatever you wanted to. In Creative, everything is unlimited, so there is no need for ammo, conveyors, etc. So you don't know where you've gone wrong if you build it in Survival, which is your case.

Problem could be a couple things, but it is most likely the basic of things.

Conveyors not fully connected.

Yeah. You'd be surprised. When it comes to conveyors, the brain tricks you. Everything looks good, and then suddenly there's a crack in one end that you had already looked at 15 times.

Having said that, I'm sure you know this but I'll say it either way. Make sure the conveyors are connected to everything, most importantly the H2/O2 Generators.

Good luck.

Thanks for your answers!
I got it to work with an hydrogen tank that "replaced" my generator. May it or may it not be due to some reconnecting of conveyors (but I have already done that before).
@Smokey: Yes, I put ice inside and the h2/o2-generator used it, too. In my cockpit, there was oxygen. So this part worked. The only thing that didn't were the thrusters.
@Tiberius: Nice tip, to use cheats in the survival mode. Will try that next time :)

Had some issues with this as well. Just remember that your hydrogen generator only outputs a certain “rate” of hydrogen from ice. If you have more than 1 hydrogen thruster, you’ll need more than 1 generator.

But with a filled hydrogen tank, this isn’t an issue
