Wind Turbines Not Working
So I built two wind turbines. They're completed and sitting on blocks with a battery sitting next to them, but the wind turbines have a yellow light on top of them instead if green. What would cause them to not work? I'm on Earth like planet.

The battery might block them. They need to be clear & off ground level in order to function (efficiently). Try Putting down a block somewhere, put a battery on it. Then put a block behind the first block and then build 4-5 blocks up from that one. And ontop of that pillar build the wind turbine.

Not sure at what height it spins max, haven't gotten around to testing it yet/haven't seen it confirmed anywhere.

i built one after landing with the new respawn droppod.
i had it just 4 light armor blocks off the ground and its been running great.

Make sure your not accidentally building on a ship grid instead of a base grid. Go into your base control menu. Click info tab, if it says convert to base. Click it. If it says convert to ship than that is it the issue.

Also mods have been known to mess it up including changing the background space.

Some of the speed mods have dirty edits to the environment settings and mess up weather. Wasnt important before this update but wind turbines do rely on the game thinking wind exists. So a speed mod might be to blame for other people having this problem

adding onto what seronis said.
may need to start a new word with no mods and give it another bash.
a base i had been working ceased to work. all the conveyors stopped working even with all mods removed.... even direct connections ceased to work newly built and all.

What is the base control menu? how is it accessed?, what command to bring it up?. I am in survival mode, and build what i thought was a little base, saved it in my GPS menu as a point, but i think i may be misunderstand the base, gps point, and possibly the re-spawn point? or all the above? I also had 2 turbines up and running in my base, when i build a 3rd the same way i built the other 2 it did not spin and its light was yellow?

In before Dan locks this 4-year-old thread... access it on any block with a control panel (like a phone keypad) by clicking on it.

Another way to make Windturbines on movable grids/ships is to lock down the grid which the turbines are on, with magnetic plates or landinggear to voxels. The magplate/landinggear or the turbine should not be on a sub-grid.

Oops, tricked by the necrothreading. Though it isn't old invalidated information. Thread is fine to stay alive in my humble opinion.

2019 discussion is way too old to reopen.

We lock +3 months old discussions because the game is not the same after a update where old disscussions may contain false information, discussions that don't have any activity so no new posts since 3 months. also to avoid community reports about "Necroing old" and it is in the forum rules added to pinned green messages.

Never be shy to create a new forum discussion, one problem at a time so all players can help on one idea/problem per discussions that matches the game version.
