Asteroid with plutonium ore?
I already searched over 50 (!) asteroids in my suvival game now and didn't find a single one with plutonium ore on it. Has anyone a seed for a asteroid to spawn with plutonium ore on it or a way to get such an asteroid?

The fun in searching one is over now after 6 hous of non-stop flying around chunks of rocks in space.
Thanks!

Probably missed some. Ores aren't always on the surface and some can be quite deep. If you're using just your hand drill or a small ship ore detector your detection range is quite short (not to mention the range setting defaults to 50% of the max range so remember to dial it up!).

Build a large mining ship. The large grid ore detector has a range of 150 m allowing you to look for the deeper deposits, too. If you don't have the resources for a large mining ship then make first a "scout ship" that has a large grid ore detector to prospect for the ores.

How do i put a large grid detector on a small grid ship? With a rotor?

That's it exactly. make a small rotor, and attach a large head. Power will transfer through the rotor, allowing you to scan for ores fairly easily.

There is no plutonium in stock game.

Are ore detectors not omni-directional?

Ore detectors are omnidirectional, and he is probably referring to uranium, which they greatly nerfed. Most of the builds on the workshop are uranium based, and the nerf really screws things up. I spent six hours yesterday with a large ore detector and found no uranium whatsoever. Hopefully someone makes a mod to bring it back

^This.

Do you mean Uranium, or have you been searching for a non-existent ore?

i'd guess platinum since its easy for someone to misread that as plutonium. i guess.

Either way, it's there. Just have to dig for it. :steamhappy:

I think there are no asteroids that are *actually* devoid of ores. Can't be *sure* of this but if there are zero-ore rocks (am counting ice as ore) then they are definitely very rare because haven't seen them. Some of the rocks hide them better than the others but in the end you always seem to find something there.

Edit: Just to be clear: By "asteroid" I mean "the thing that spawns into a single asteroid location". Some of them are split into separate physical asteroids near each other but as far as ore generation goes it's one "location".

Don’t bother mining, I spent 8 hours looking for it and never found it. So I just started raiding SPAT’s. Now I have tons of platinum and uranium... and ammo. Filled crates with ammo and rockets too. Unless... you don’t have SPAT’s.
