Do the planets have water yet?
In my new game I started in space. When I get down to the planet will I find they finally implemented water? Or will I find a temperate planet that mysteriously is full of ice?

not proper voxel physics and water i dare you name some that have a physics engine as complex as SEs were the water is proper fluid and not just a texture that you can fall through
Guess you never heard of NMS then, but then again perhaps their world is not voxelbased. We also have Empyrion, Planet Nomad etc. And yes they all have more advanced physics then Trove, Minecraft and other voxel games that all support fluids.

But it does take indeed a toll on simulation calculations, but then again SE is not the most optimised in that departure either, so adding fluids will just put it over the top and Keen has not the resoruces to fix it all. So I won't be to sad not getting it.

EDIT: oh right I did forget Landmark (EQN) also had fluids before it got closed down.

Ice ice baby.

There's water...but it's solid.

its a legitimate claim that the game has Water, as ice and water are one in the same, especially when said ice breaks down into hydrogen and oxygen.

to expect liquid water in a game such as this is irrational in what the game is about. its not about building an submarine its about space, and a large portion of planets and moons, the water is all frozen anyway with earth being the only real candidate for liquid water.

it'd be a pointless, energy hungry feature if done right, ugly and pointless if done lazily just to make people who want liquid water shut up.

not water because they dont want it to be like water in KSP that would just be the same as ice and
proper water physics + voxels = bad idea

Does Medieval Engineers have water? If not then both games are unfinished. Open source this one at least and let someone add water to the game.

there are mods for ME & SE that add a sphere of "water" to specific planets. it won't get any better than that. Voxels and proper "physics" fluids just dont mix. at all.

Never heard of them. Must be a reason..

Google can help with that or try searching Steam.

Ive never understood this hardon for fluid water. This game is about building spaceships and while tanks full of fluid could be intersting it would be resource intensive as hell on the engine used for SE. There are much better features to add with that overhead and the time to develop something that would add to the game in a much much larger fashion. For example something as simple as a few dozen new blocks can entirely change how the game is played. Or something such as mobile NPCs.

Hell even things we CANT see such as an under the hood fix that solves a lot of persistant issues or improves performance by a large margin. Just imagine 200 or 300k PCU ships that dont lag or rotors that dont just randomly summon sir clang to take a moon sized bite out of your ships.

Water is very very VERY low on the list of things this game needs worked on and honestly would add very little other then being pretty

yea but was it proper fluids because if your going to count fluids that are static things that somethings either fall through or just float on then its not proper water physics is it? not to mention if you count that a decent water physics for a voxel game then well theres a mod for that but not many games if any at all have any proper water physics if i make a lake bigger does the water level drop and fill up that space?

Last time I checked yes they had all that, not 100% accurate, but then again mechanics in SE are also not 100% accurate anyway as atmosphere does not give any friction to slow your ships down and is why we can travel for ages without hitting the brakes/power, only gravity is used.
