Assembler not working
So I set up a kinda quick ore > components station. It goes like this:

Connector > Sorter (drain all) > large cargo > sorter (ore only) > refinery > sorter (ingots only) > assembler > sorter (components only) > large cargo

Everything works perfectly fine, there's plenty of power, everything is green, all good. But the assembler won't make anything. The ingots are arriving in the assembler (they're defo in there), and if I put a component in it gets pulled into the final cargo. The issue is the ingot > component step simply isn't working. I put 6k iron ingots and it won't make one steel sheet.

In addition I've noticed connections disappearing to the point where I take things from a cargo via a connector connected directly to it, is this some kinda bug?

Any mods, or straight vanilla? Usually when this happens, I generally find it's something silly, like I have disassemble selected rather than assemble. lol.. Then again, assemblers are by far the WORST blocks for problems in the whole game..at least in my experience. :/

I have an ore detector range mod and spiral staircase and glass mod but that's it. Will try turning them both off and seeing if it works. Yeah I agree they're such a pain. Nope, checked assemble/disassemble it's on assemble, all on the correct list setting too, besides the conveyors are working but it's the assembler that's not :(

I know this is a pain if it's buried in a network of pipes, but rip the assembler down and rebuild it. It fixed it for me when I had a similar problem.

Also, if you have another assembler anywhere on the same piping system, even if it's not linked to work together, it can cause a problem with queuing. I've actually started using T.I.M to control my assemblers. It generally fixes them. Takes a bit to get used to though. I really wish they'd concentrate on assembler problems. It's the biggest problem in the game as far as I can tell.

You don't need the sorter in front of the refinery. Connect the assembler directly to the refinery or place a cargo container in between - get rid of the sorter - is not needed and likely the problem. Refinery automatically sucks in ores and assembler automatically sucks in ingots. If you force ingots into the assembler it will fill up completely and once one type of ingots runs out it can't request the missing ingot because it's too full.

Eventually you're going to run out of room in the assembler if you also use it for ingot storage.

This is what eventually fixed it for me... It showed the building animation but it wasn't pulling ingots, and when ingots were in the assembler inventory, it still wouldn't build components. I had to remove them all off the grid.
