Spectator cam?

I have watch youtube vids where people enter spectator cam and use that to fly around and check out the local area around them or in multiplayer to check what other players are upto.

I have spectator cam enabled in the options and can press f8 to access the spectator cam free mode, but how do you move the camera around the map or can do is pan the camera from a fixed point.

You move the same way as with your character. Increase/decrease movement speed by holding shift and scroll your mouse up or down. "Teleport character to spectator position" is CTRL+SPACE.

For some reason I can't move the camera my movement keys are default AWSD for movement which work fine in first person but in spectator nothing. That is both in modded and unmodded game.

I think its alt+scroll to change speed not shift. Could be its just extremly slow :)

You just aren't moving fast. Scroll to speed up as others have said. I thought it was shift scroll as well, but its something scroll to get moving.

When I click strafe left or strafe right, I also get a minuscule upwards/downwards motion. Something in my camera has changed, meaning I am not aligned with the directions I am looking. How to reset this?
