Experimental Mode?
This might sound like a relly dumb question, but what is experimental mode?

I found a really cool ship on the workshop (This here: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1303346089) and it has a feature called the Mass gun and it uses scripts to work. I know that with the new update, scripts and has been moved into this mysterious experimental mode and I think I'm not in experimental mode, because this gun doesn't work.

So what is that and how do I know I'm in experimaental mode?

It's something of a misnomer. I'd argue that it should instead be referred to as "Advanced Mode", but that's just me.

Basically it allows for most of the old user customisation and more resource-intensive aspects of the game to work again. You need to enable it (through the World settings) before you can use mods, scripts, air tightness, etc. Without it, you essentially get the base game and that's all; but it's all pretty much (though not entirely) guaranteed to work.

Well, I turned scripts in the advanced option on, but it still not working.

I would try in a new world created in the experimental for a test and make sure script is anabled first.

tho, this ship (WS item above) looks a bit big for the "Exploration" Tag.

Standard game without experimantal mode = Officially supported by Keen and they're committed to fix bugs related to its features. I.e. "This is the part of the game that we say should work ok."

With experimental mode = New options and choices opened for the players. These features mostly should work but Keen may or may not see fit to optimize them or fix bugs related to them, or at least their priority is whatever it is.

The division is sort of "official" vs. "extras". The reason behind is mostly multiplayer optimization. By dropping the "extras" they got the multiplayer game run much better.

If you're playing single-player then there's no reason not to check the "experimental mode" and get all those extras like world customization, airtightness, programmable blocks etc.

I'm always playing alone and have those extras enabled and I tried this ship in a new world with scripts on.

Maybe the script author knows about this, you should ask him or the solution may already be in the WS item comments / description !?

I am not allowed do turn on experimental...I cant click on it

When you are in the main menu and not in a world you can turn it on and off.

Also found the solution. The script was outdated. When you use a newer version it works fine.

Oh! this one is very old discussion and we / I did not know what was this new "Experimental" thing at that time.

Tho now I know exactly what it is > OP = "Experimental Mode?" <

We have 2 games now :

Default more (Safe mode) = Better MP perfo and limited

Experimantal mode = all in + World settings + Scripts + Mods + No limits

it's OK to create a new discussion when too old cause the game is not the same anymore = old discussions may become obsolete very fast.

Try this if you don't see the check box in game options from main game menu

Verify the game cache with Steam

How to Verify integrity of game cache:

- Right click on Space Engineers in your Steam Library.
- Go to properties.
- Go to LOCAL FILES tab.
- Click Verify integrity of game cache
- When done try the game.
