1. Uninstalling video drivers using DDU
2. installing new drivers
Have had many defective ones just wanted to let you guys know
Put grass density on 0.0, then it will work.
I'm 100% confident this is not an overheating issue. The issue only occurs when you have grass density on any value above 0.0. And my GPU temps stay around 40-50 celcius, with only 30% usage. Besides that, if you put grass density on 0.0 everything works flawlessly.
I think it has to do with the way the new adrenaline drivers render in shaders or something, because when I launched call of duty WW2 the other day, all the map textures were pitch black. And not so surprisingly, I found another thread linking to this only happening with a 5700(xt) navi cards.
So the fix for now is to just play with grass density on 0.0 until AMD or the Space Engineers dev find a fix for the issue.
the grass density "fix" only works for a few people.
I see AMD users reporting problems since a few months, I always report to the SE Team about this every months and the best you can do is to send all info + game log file directly to the SE Programmer so he can fix faster.
If you want to help on having the AMD fix faster =
Send all info you have to the SE programmer :
Email = support@keenswh.com
Or
Support Portal = https://support.keenswh.com/spaceengineers/general
post log file along with description, it can be found here: C:\Users\{YOUR WINDOWS USERNAME}\AppData\Roaming\SpaceEngineers\SpaceEngineers.log
or simply paste this into your Explorer:
%appdata%\SpaceEngineers
The log file should be from the game session where you've encountered the bug. If you start the game again, the log will be overwritten.
post log file to www.pastebin.com and share the link on forum.
Note
No need of pastebin website if you report on the Support Portal.
Ah that sucks, it worked for me. I am clueless on how else to fix it. I guess the best you can do for now is to do what the developer suggested above, and hope it gets fixed soon. Otherwise you could try rolling back to older adrenaline drivers to see if that fixes the issue.
Just read the comment on your profile and if it was already crashing for you in november, there is a big chance there is something wrong with your 5700 or your setup in general. Are you experiencing similar crashes / issues in other titles? If so, a few things you could try to do are:
1. Update your motherboard bios. This fixed most of my instability issues with my 5700 at launch.
2. Go into your motherboard bios and find PCI_E1 - Max link speed setting. Then change it to [Gen3]. If it was on [Auto] before, your GPU will try to use [Gen4] which your motherboard probably doesn't have or support (unless it's an X570 chipset).
3. Turn off hardware acceleration in applications like Discord, Firefox, Chrome.
i got the newest BIOS for my motherboard running, i also tried several combinations of drivers and PCIe-slot versions(Gen3 and Gen4), even with my motherboard being a new X570 chipset one from asus so that isnt it either and i dont even have anything besides steam running in the backround when i tested running space engineers.
point is, i know my way around computers for a few years and while i'm no technician, i know enough to test out a few things right away and read up on other possibly fixes, sadly nothing has worked so far :I
EDIT:
thanks dan for still keeping an eye on this issue, even if it hasnt lead to any solution yet, its appreciated ;)
Allright, then I'm truly out of ideas aswell. It is a bit odd that you were already experiencing issues in November though. Game has never given me any problems until now so all I can say is I hope for you that the issue gets fixed soon, and that the game will work when it does get fixed.
sadly, it didnt fix it for me but maybe it will for some of you?
at least 20.3.1 fixed the texture flickering in transport fever 2 for me but i guess i'm going to save up for an nvidia card if i ever want to play SE again.
what a disappointment NAVI has been :/
