How do I change projector size?
I have googled like crazy and can get no straight answer. I have opened progression and all blocks and ONLY see projector. There is no size to it, Large , small, nothing. I am trying to build a small mining ship but I get the error about grid size.

Hi, I use a rotor added to my station and build my large block ships on its rotor head.

+ I can grind the rotor head and spawn a small block rotor head on it to build small ship.

+ place the small or large projector block on the proper rotor head to spawn Blueprints.

Tho you must unlock all blocks first if you play with "Block progression? enabled.

The projector block like most other things is available in large and small block size, and can only load blueprints of the same block size. Size selection of the block is the same as for all other blocks. If you want to build a small ship from a large base, either use the rotor trick (attach a small size head to a large size rotor) or build a small projector and battery on a landing gear sat on the base.

Watch Splitsie's video on projectors and blueprints (link below). You can't build a small grid projector on a large grid (unless you follow the instructions above). You will need to make a small grid projector which can only be built on a small grid. The video and others like it on youtube will help.

They changed the old "R" hotkey to just re-pressing the number on your toolbar to switch grid size. So if you place projector on "3", press 3 to select it, then 3 again to change grid size. The game also does this automatically to match to the grid you're pointing at.

That resizes the blocks. Now the problem is how to attach the small block to a big block? I tried building a platform to the side with small blocks but of course that doesnt work either. 10 hours into this, its getting a bit ridiculous.

I just aim at small or large block with block in hand to switch size tho I sometimes prefer to go to the "G" menu, select small or large on the left side to drag and drop to right block to my toolbar.

Small blocks can't be added on large blocks so we can create large block ships/stations and small block ships/cars, we can't "merge those together.

Only by using a large block rotor and spawn a small block rotor head on it to be able to add small on large.

To further illustrade the use of the rotor to attach different sized grids together see this screenshot:

I can create cool cars with the rotor "Trick" for small on large.

I created the main car frame with large blocks, added a large rotor with small block rotor head on it for the car body (skin) :

But that is a advanced SE challenge very cool to work on and find the working solution :selike:
