...Some Blocks also only conect with certain parts of them, so if there is something near the Landing Gear blocking the block from fitting in... ha, a Block blocker^^'
As far as connecting to the "top" - I have to be - I am unable to rotate the gear to place the other side down!
Ok on protection bubble - I don't know what that is. I have built all sorts of land vehicles - just can't do a space ship. And this is a space game!
KEEN hasn't helped so I'm about ready to give up on this.
Try to "hover" the landing gear slightly above the platform you want to start your new ship on when you place it.
Rotate it so that the large magnetic part is pointing towarts the surface you want your new grid to be locked to.
You can also press the number key you have the gear (or any other block) on again to switch between grid sizes.
Just place some light armor Blocks on the floor and build up until you have the space you need. From there, make your ship.
If you want to use smal grid blocks its a bit tricky(They don't get stuck in the floor...), but possible.^^
I think if you do it this way, SE thinks you are building a station, so you probably have to change it to Ship in the "K" menu of the Pilot Seat/Cockpit
I fingered it OUT!
When I went to put the landing gear (large or small ship) On the deck or a block on a small head rotor small block - the gear attached upside down and because I'm not allowed to turn it right side up I thought - game busted. the people on Youtube didn't seem to have that problem.
So I went back in and ran some small blocks off the small head rotor out horizontally, 4 or 5 blocks above deck height. Then when I brought out the dreaded gear I could attach it on the belly of the horizontal row of small blocks. And this ended up with the gear orientated in the right direction. Now I have just about completed a small ship built on a large base platform!~ COOL.
Just what I wanted.
I have a land vehicle drilling rig. I needed a transport from the drilling rig back and forth to base.
My drilling rig is stationary once setup on site - like I can turn it into a mini-station so it's wind turbines work. So the turbines now power everything and recharge my drive batteries I use to get there. Plus the thing - Scorpion (cuz of the way the drill arms are articulated into store position for traveling) - Makes it look like one. Looks like a stinger.
It takes me about an hour to set up at site. But once done. I have gone articulate down 40 meters and radius out about 30 to 40 meters. Out of this one gold mine I've extracted 80Kg of ore. And I bet there is still that much left! This is my first mine so a lot of train and reworks of gear. But the final setup was achieved.
In the future I won't do it this way. I'll use Scorpion to get to depth. Use Gopher - my new flying transport to empty my booty into. It goes on and on - I'll stop.
But thanx you guys for all your help and suggestions - it help me get to the right solution.
And I apologize to KEEN for my crappy attitude when I hit the ol' mental wall. 99% of the time it is me. But boy I was at my wits end.
Thanx again all
Yt Noyz
P.S. I flew over to my connector and attached there - so now I can eliminate the landing gear altogether. Because at my remote sites that's how I dock. So I can transfer the goodies and still recharge batteries - There are Wind Turbines still at site w/ containers and a drill head to use. Great sport!
