I've heard a lot of reports where anytime a GPU is at 100%, someone just assumes it is bitcoin mining.

Nah, GPU is more efficient or something, it really drove up the prices of the 1000 series Nvidias when they came out.

Anyhow, Valve did once remove a game for "shipping unauthorized code" among other things, which was mining bitcoin. Though arguably it could have been those other things that got it canned.
