Any way to disable 'eye adaptation'?
Or whatever it is that makes it pitch black whenever i look at the wrong angle, even if i'm not actually changing position?

Yeah, if I'm not mistaken that's the *ambient occlusion* that you can disable from the graphics section of the option menu.

Hi, that one we can't change but a Modder could do if not on the Workshop already, tho I am not sure if one shared I think you should find if you type in 'eye adaptation' in a Workshop Mod search

A lot reported about this and the 'eye adaptation' changed a lot of time in game updates after complaints saying it was not dark enough, well members prefer darker a lot more.

That's because people badly misunderstand how eyes work. Shadows are very rarely pitch black, there's almost always some amount of ambient light unless you're actually in a cave. Speaking as someone who has lived in the country, far from any city lights, it has to be a moonless night *and* cloudy to be anywhere close to as dark as people mod for in video games. (It's especially absurd in games like Skyrim where there are two giant moons visible at night nearly all the time.)

The ambient light reflecting off asteroids and especially planets, or coming in from outside should make it MUCH lighter than it is. Again, unless you're in a totally lightless cave. But whatever, the game is what it is. I don't have anything like the coding skill to change it, and people who think light stops existing when you get more than twenty feet from a street light have spoken.

I wouldn't mind a dark environment if lights (from the engineer or a grid) actually worked like lights. Right now, when I turn on a spotlight, it's either too faint to be of any use, or too bright and it basically turns the screen white when I look at what it shines on from one angle or black when looking at it from another angle, without actually moving. It's very frustrating and makes playing at night/dark side of celestial bodies more like a chore.

Can you share some screenshots that pinpoint the ones you don't like and I will add those in my report tho you can create a Feedback for it.

I see what you mean, I am not sure if that will change again but I will add to my report, thanks for sharing,

Oh! and those screens are on what graphic settings? Default High?
Edit (looks medium)

It is medium. Going high or low doesn't seem to affect this particular issue though.

Removing eye adaptation makes game look like crap. Thats why there are countless skybox and adaptation mods that make game darker.
WHat it needs is proper eye adaptation instead.
And Alot darker nights so you would not feel transition.(or brighter adaptation.)
