Automatic miner with pistons and drill
Hey Everyone.

I have been trying the automatic mining for 2 days now with pistons down and a grid by 5 x 5 with every other block has a drill to it.

The problem I am facing is that when I have this mining station, it is drilling strait down. But after about 15 seconds it just stops.

I have to manually go down and chop some stone under some of the drills, and then it goes down again for about 15 seconds and then I have to repeat this.

Where can I have done something wrong?

It is just a platform, container, battery, solar panel, conveior junktion, conveior tubes, 3 pistons and 9 drills.

did u welded the piston heads?
otherwise no ore will be transported and the drills are full and dont drill anymore

Ores are going in to the containers, so the ores are going through

maybe the piston is faster than the drill can drill
slow down the pistons

I have tried to have the pistons as low as 0.001, but it still just stops

maybe its a power problem try setting the battery to recharge for 5-10mins the discharge it and see if it lasts a bit longer or try adding more solar panels

Just put down a reactor, but still nothing. Says I have 90 days of power now, so should be more than enough

are the drills full?
or the cargo container?

Nope. Drills have nothing im them and everything goes to 2 large containers. And there is only 200k stone and 40k iron in those. So alot more to go on.
Could we see a screeny? I have a large grid miner with a drill every other block its just in 5x3 arrangement. If i remember i have to use right click mode to allow it to move forward properly. With the drills just switched on in mining mode it may not be enough and they clip on something. Maybe try a tighter arrangement.

Another option is increasing the piston force, the sliders can go right into the red and need to for some stuff. Can only use them in experimental mode though i think :)

out of curiosity
how many solar panels do u have?
and is your battery on auto or recharge?

Thanks for you answers.
I can provide a picture, but it is realy basic. One piston down. grid with 5x5 of conveior junktion to get the materials up, and then drills on every other block.

The materials is going through and ends up in the storage, but the piston just stops.
The piston force is not that high, should I increase that one? But the miners should mine either way since the drill is literally in the ground and not over the ground.

Or you can always upload your save, and let people take a look.

I built something similar to what your talking about but much larger 14x14 large grid that mines 4 piston layers deep you can take a look its on workshop called "Atmo Piston Miner" I would suggest adding a lot more storage for it then what i have on the current uploaded version.
